Player Admits He’s Frustrated At Newcastle

Massadio Haidara could well be sold by Rafa Benitez in the summer as he has to make way for new players coming in who will strengthen the squad – that’s always assuming we can get promoted back to the Premier League.

Massadio has only played 51 times for the first team in the four years he has been on Tyneside and his lack of playing time is due in the main to the many injuries he has picked up while at Newcastle.

Haidara was a promising young left-back who had just turned 20 when we signed him from Nancy in January 2013 for £2M, but he has not come through as expected and the 24 year-old could be surplus to requirements come the summer.

Massadio Haidara – could leave Newcastle this summer

Massadio has been interviewed in the local press today and this is what he has said as reported in the Shields Gazette:

“As a player you have to keep your condition – you have to be ready for the day you are needed to play for the first-team.”

“You have to keep your head down and you have to make sure you work hard.” “It is not always easy but you have to try and enjoy it.”

“This is the most difficult thing. “One day you know you will have your chance, but you will never know when.”

“As a player you have to keep pushing yourself every day in training to make sure that when you are needed you are fit and ready to do your best.”

“Mentally it can be hard. I am frustrated. “Every player would be the same.”

“I am a little bit disappointed with this season because every player wants to play in the first-team.”

“When you are not frustrated at not playing there must be something wrong. “But you have to make sure you use your frustration in a good way.”

“It needs to make you want to show more.”

Massadio is obviously frustrated and unless Paul Dummett is injured there seems little chance he’ll get any playing time in the final vital eight games of this season.

What do you think?

Haidara is better at going forward but Dummett is a better defender. As we all know Rafa thinks defensively first so Dummett is always going to get the nod over Haidara. Ideally we need a LB who is a hybrid of the two 🙂

Rafa used to play Riise at left back for Liverpool. He was attacking as they come. I think when he plays Anita & Dummet & Gouffran at the same time, we are extremely limited in terms of attacking down our wings.

I always liked Haidara and hoped he would come good.
Injuries were from a horrific tackle then various problems.

Now – not sure if he is good enough. Have to trust in Rafa.

That being said – would TWO attacking fullbacks be a good idea?
    Or leave us exposed?!?
The way I see it, Yedlin is the attacking FB option and
Dummett stays back to maintain 3 at the back.
