Newcastle were linked with Chelsea’s 21 year-old midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek in January, but near the end of the transfer window Chelsea manager Antonio Conte decided he wanted the player to stay as part of the Chelsea first team squad at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place in the team.
But now it appears Conte wants him to get more first team playing time and will be willing to send him out on loan for next season with Newcastle one of the clubs in the running to get him.
He will not be a cheap loan signing, with reports that he is already getting £50K/week in London and that for a player who has played only 19 times in the Chelsea first team with two goals.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek – loan deal for Newcastle next season?
He made his senior debut for the London club back in December 2014, just before he turned 18, and replaced Cesc Fabregas for the final few minutes of a UEFA Champions League group match against Sporting Lisbon at Stamford Bridge.
The report is in talkSPORT and if Newcastle are a Premier league club next season we could be a big attraction for the youngster and he could be coached by world-class Rafa Benitez.
The Spanish manager has already made a number of Newcastle players better players this season with his expert coaching.
Stoke City are also interested in getting the player on loan and Brighton were also interested in him last January.
Newcastle need a lot more creativity in midfield next season and this lad can provide some of that and Ruben would also get a lot of playing time on Tyneside if he did move to Newcastle.
It will be interesting to see if Newcastle can negotiate an option to buy the 21 year-old at the end of next season in the loan contract; that’s if we do manage to get him on loan.
