Our Man Of The Match Could Yet Be Player Of The Season

This year Matt Ritchie has hit a rich vein of form and it seemed to coincide with the injury to our top goalscorer Dwight Gayle at Brentford.

Matt scored again yesterday and he should have also been awarded a penalty in the second half ,which would have killed the game off for us nicely.

Matt is once again our Man of the Match in yesterday’s terrific 2-1 against Wigan with a massive 74% of the vote.

Matt Ritchie – Man of the Match yesterday

Matt has now scored 14 goals this season including 10 goals scored in the Championship and he has been a huge player for us this season.

Matt is a bargain buy for the £12M we paid Bournemouth for him in the summer.

While Dwight Gayle with 22 Championship goals will probably be the top contender for the Player of the Season award, Matt will be pushing him for the award.

Congratulations to Matt for another great performance for us yesterday – it was worth 3 points.

And since we are always on the lookout for top young talent, we picked out this youngster from the Chronicle list of supporter photos yesterday at St. James’ Park.

The next Matt Ritchie?

The question we have is – could this lad be the next Matt Ritchie?

After all he has the same color hair as Matt and he’s also somewhat similar in facial features.

The rumors are that he has a very good left foot too – interestingly just like Matt.

You just never know, he could be a future Newcastle star one day, even though his Alan Shearer impression needs a lot of work.

🙂

He’s the definition of a lovely lad
