Rafa Wants This £25M Brazilian Striker In Summer

The People are reporting today that Newcastle United are interested in signing Brazilian striker Willian Jose this summer.

Willian joined Real Sociedad last July and he has had a decent season with 11 goals in 28 games for the Spanish club.

Newcastle have missed too many chances this season and have therefore dropped too many points because of that, so the news is that Rafa wants to bring in two top strikers in the summer who can score the goals for Newcastle – in the Premier League.

Willian Jose – Real Sociedad 25 year-old striker

And Everton are also interested in the 25 year-old as a potential replacement for Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, who is expected to leave the Goodison Park club this summer.

Manchester United and Chelsea are both said to be more than interested in signing Lukaku this summer.

The news today is that Rafa wants to bring in six top players for Newcastle in the summer and presumably Willian Jose is one of our targets.

The news was in the Chronicle and owner Mike Ashley is said to be backing Rafa in the transfer market this summer.

The fee for Willian is said to be around £25M and that would be a record transfer fee for Newcastle United, beating the £17M we paid to Real Madrid for Michael Owen in August, 2005.

Willian Jose played from 2011-2016 for Deportivo Maldonado in Uruguay, but during that time he was loaned out to 8 different clubs and played primarily in Brazil and La Liga.

He played for Sao Paulo, Santos and Real Madrid during that time.

What do you think?

Price sounds a bit high for a striker with a
11 goals in 28 games record.

But – in Rafa we trust

    Hail
Hes 19 years old fighting world class players for his spot how often would u expect him to be playing? Hes appeared in more games than Armstrong has this season and featured about a game less in minutes…and hes just scored against Sunderland

And 100% Southgate is taking Rashford is hes fit

Rafa wouldnt guarantee starts to anyone it goes against how he is as a manager, Ritchie hasnt been dropped because hes incredibly important to how we play and has for the most part kept up his form all season

Plus Mourinho and Rafa do not like each other. Theres no way Rashford will be at Newcastle next season

I’m not getting into an endless debate, especially when you’re using false equivalence, assumptions and strawmen. I’ve already said it’s unlikely, let’s leave it there.

We’ll need the best part of a new squad just to compete in the premier league. Or we’ll be relegated again.
Our current players are letting Rafa down and Rafa can’t see when changes needs to be made, we’ll not to the game is 70 to 80 mins over.

Rashford has the 10th most minutes on the pitch in the PL this season and Mourinho isnt much of a fan on him? Aye assumptions are troublesome

What a start in the Everton match, see Rafa that’s how you should play, two sides attacking each other and not fannying about passing it sideways.

We need to spend big in the summer and that’s just to match these teams let alone beat them, we would struggle against these two teams.

Ud expect a promoted team to have to spend big to match a team with the league top scorer and the champions of the division would u not?

Hows Swansea doing these days btw? Watched them against Boro and West Ham they are a fan of the long ball these days…found a new way to play boring football so u have to be impressed by them really

Leicester’s starting 11 last season cost £24m and their 2 main strikers cost a total of £1.4m.

It’s been only this season swans have been rubbish, as for playing long ball again that’s only happened this season, and as for getting relegated or nearly relegated do you really want to go down that road considering how times Newcastle have been relegated and nearly relegated over the last couple of years.

I think we’ll be able to spend around £50-60 mil in the summer, and I think we’ll look for a few bargain buys as long as they’re not French mercenaries. We’ll need some premier league ready experience tho

I think most of us thought that the quality we have in our team, we can play good football in the championship and enjoy our teams possession and control.

We know this won’t happen in the epl at least we could enjoy it in the championship.

End up our football is equally crap in this league, and bottom feeders still dominate us. This is gonna be a norm on the epl. Disappointhat that this is how it is in the championship even.

Other than that, we are going up.

Newcastle have been in the premiership the longest i agree, but it only took swans their 2nd season in premiership to win a trophy, not bad for a Welsh team.

Technically it took Swansea over 100 years to win their first trophy didnt it? And even under Ashley (a man with no ambition who doesnt care about NUFC) we’ve spent more time in the PL than Swansea havent we?

Penalty shootouts are a waste, it’s the luck of the kick, 3 times they have been lucky.

I’m on about in the premiership, stats relegated twice and I’m not being funny but it should have been more.

    I love toon

Possession means nothing, we played decent football in the first half the season, battering the likes of qpr Preston Ipswich Birmingham Rotherham Leeds now it’s just about grinding out results. We’re tactically flexible and can win more than one way. Unlike the likes of reading Fulham who can only win one way, and when they get nullified they choose not to be direct because it doesn’t look “pretty”

I am going to be honest, and we all know it. We are doing well this season which is great, the football has been very poor of late, scraping results.
But We’ve been no more than a championship side for years. People have been paying good money to watch the biggest load of dross possible while we were in the premier league .
If fans hadn’t thought we’re real Madrid Mash wouldn’t have got away with his fkin regime for so long.

There’s a reason why we’re in the top 2 and reading huddersfield Fulham aren’t, because we’re better and can adapt our style. Brighton like us, can play good football but can also mix it up. Some people are also forgetting this is rafa’s first full season with a completely changed squad, Brighton have always been in the play offs and it was only a matter of time before they really mounted a serious title challenge

We lose more often than not due to individual errors or shite defending that the manager can’t do anything about, only really would I blame any of our losses is the 1-3 Fulham game where he was way too cautious.

But without rafa, we would have done a villa, if not much worse

    Here here James

I can’t understand people’s arguments when they say “we should be dominating this league with this squad” then in the next breath “diame? Rubbish. Colback? Never been a player. Dummet? Load of crap.” Etc etc etc.

You wanna go away and sort your points of view out lads? In August I’d have snapped anyone’s hands off for 10 points clear of 3rd with 5 games left, name me a fan who wouldn’t.
