There’s news in the Express today that American DeAndre Yedlin may try to persuade his American colleague Christian Pulisic to join Newcastle this summer – but it’s kind of tongue in cheek.
18 year-old Pulisic is one of the top young players in the world today and it would be extremely difficult to get him to Newcastle, but DeAndre says he will at least do his best, but we wonder how much the Borussia Dortmund star would cost.
An awful lot of money.
He has already played 48 times for Dortmund with 7 goals and looks a fabulous player in the making when we have watched him this season.
He’s played 13 times for the USA with four goals.
Christian Pulisic – what a player this lad is
For the USA U15 side he played 28 times with 21 goals and for the U17 side he played 34 times with 28 goals – 62 youth games for the US with 49 goals – and then jumped straight to the senior team – so you see what we mean.
Here’s the tweet put out by Yedlin when asked by Newcastle fan Andrew Nesbitt on Twitter if he could convince Pulisic to come play for us next season.
I’ll do my best ?????? https://t.co/gxJXOKJ8gX

The Borussia Dortmund star was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where the chocolate is made and he is a precocious young player – to say the least.
This lad is destined for greatness:
- In April 2016, he became the youngest foreigner to score a goal in the Bundesliga.
- Later that month, he became the youngest player to ever score two goals in the Bundesliga.
- On May 28, 2016, he scored in an international friendly against Bolivia to become the youngest player to score a goal for the United States at just 17 years and 253 days old.
- On September 2, 2016, he became the youngest American player to score a goal in World Cup qualifying history at 17 years and 349 days.
Pulisic turned down the opportunity to sign for Liverpool FC last summer and we would be very surprised if he would even want to leave Dortmund this summer for any club.
He looked very good last night when Monaco won 3-2 in the Champions League in Germany, after the game had been put back a day after the terrorist attack on the Dortmund team coach on Tuesday.
It’s nice to think there could be chance he could join Newcastle – maybe it’s a 10% chance.
These are the top young players we should be trying to sign before they hit the headlines, but that’s very difficult to do.
What do you think?
