The Newcastle defense was very dodgy from the off at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and it looks like two of our best defenders may be fit and ready to play tomorrow against Leeds United at St. James’ Park.
DeAndre Yedlin is definitely available and gives us more thrust down the right wing and Ciaran Clark has been our best defender this season and he may be available to play.
We’ll assume both Yedlin and Clark will start tomorrow.
DeAndre Yedlin – will start tomorrow?
Here’s the team that Rafa could start against Leeds tomorrow night.
Darlow
Yedlin Lascelles (c) Clark Dummett
Shelvey Hayden
Ritchie Perez Gouffran
Murphy
We like Issac Hayden a lot and he can play in central midfield and make a difference to the team with his class.
Ayoze Perez has played well at home and we need some goals from the Spaniard in these final five games of the term.
Rafa may start Mitrovic up front, but whoever plays there must play well and take their chances – hopefully.
We’ll go with Daryl Murphy from the start but would expect Aleksandar to get some playing time in the second half.
We must register a win tomorrow night so we can all celebrate and go daft.
Then that would then be a really good Good Friday.
Howay The Bonnie Lads!!

Comment #6I’m not a great Mitro fan but he made a difference when he came on in our last game, so Rafa should be playing him up front with Murphy. We need goals.
But it won’t happen.

we’ll have to, we’ll either need the best part of a new squad IF we’re promoted or two or three quality aditions to have another bash.

Forget it man, no way we could be buying almost a whole new squad in the close season. He will focus on maybe up to 5 acquisitions, but the RIGHT 5. The market is going to be hugely difficult. Far more competition financially. I ‘can’t wait’ for a summer of the likes of kimbo bemoaning our failure to attract unrealistic stellar signings on our return to the Prem

I know we’ll never get the best part of a new squad IF we’re promoted but we’ll need a good clear out, quite a lot of our squad aren’t getting regular football now.
Tbf to many new players take time to gel.
Hopefully as long as we stay at premier league club we’ll build over the years to become a established top ten club.
It will take time and lots of money.

I think Rafa will walk if we miss out on promotion. I hope not but he could blame Mash for not backing him in January.
Would love Rafa to start playing with two striker’s in the championship instead of hoofing upto our lone striker.

Comment #18There’s not that many players I fancy in the British leagues who would A: improve us and B: I think we could realistically get. Premium prices will see us outbid for top level players. I’m hoping Rafa is going to unearth one or two from under the radar, say from the Spanish leagues, with his international contacts.

Comment #23For the people calling for 4 4 f******g 2 so we don’t ‘lump it up’, it only seems that way as we’re short of 2 or 3 quality midfielders. With a better midfield and better control the style of play would be more apparent, in my opinion of course.

You’re right, but that’s the problem, making it very hard for our lone striker to be effective. It was fine when Gayle was fit and scoring, he has the pace.
Unfortunately with alot of pacy players ham string injuries seem fairly common at some point.

Comment #27It’s a long long time since I seen Leeds at SJP, asking for trouble mind, a late kick off meaning loads of Leeds fans will be staying over night, people been drinking all day on account of the resurection of Christ, (sorry if I offended any non Christians, Christians or Zoroastrians with that observation) all heading for the toon after the game, Sky and the FA at their wonderful best.

Comment #34Jail – Aye the public transport is ridiculous – no buses and a Sunday Service Metro – thanks to the wonder of Sky TV. Also I think loan players not playing against their parent club is an FA ruling – pretty sure it was brought in after Lua Lua scored against us when on loan.
