Rafa – We Need To Take Care Of Business

Rafa has always said throughout the season that it’s up to Newcastle to get the results and then everything will take care of itself and we don’t have to worry too much about the other teams, like who’s above us or below us in the league table.

But we haven’t played that well lately although to be fair we got two cracking wins after the International break when we beat Wigan 2-1 and Burton 1-0 at St. James’ Park.

We’ve dropped 10 points in the last six games. but we still look almost certain to finish in the top two with 10 points separating us from 3rd placed Huddersfield.

Rafa is trying to get our players completely refocused again for the final 5 games of this season.

This is some of what the manager said at his press conference today:

“The message is very clear, it is just this game.”

“We can’t worry about what is going on.” “We have to win our games, if we win those then we can look at the games.”

“I think from one month ago, I was talking about the pressure on Huddersfield, everyone will feel the pressure, the teams at the bottom will.”

“It is important to manage this and you have to have confidence in your ability and carry on.”

In order to get back on track tomorrow it really is simple.

We need to win the game against Leeds United – however we can do that.

We don’t even need to play well because results now are much more important than good performances.

Although that would be an added bonus if we can also put in a good performance.

In short, it’s time for our lads to step up to the plate and produce tomorrow – 3 points please.

I hope we turn up tomorrow night, I’m sure Rafa will have explained the importance of the game to our players.
    No pressure then!

My confidence is still high, but another loss and a Hudd win, and I might be hiding under the covers as well. I think I will break out my Black and White Scarf tomorrow. Wore it every game when we finished 5th in 11/12 and brought it out sporadically, most notably when Gutiérrez saved us. It is calling me from my closet to be let out for tomorrows game.

    WW…,
We all have one in us somewhere, I’ve never seen the blog as bad as this, we finally get a decent manager and the place does a death, Ashleys atrocities obviously kept the place going.
