David Prutton is predicting that Brighton will beat Wolves away and Newcastle will draw 2-2 at home to Leeds and if those predictions are accurate Brighton will be on their way to winning the Championship 4 points ahead of Newcastle with only 4 games to play.
David is only predicting the games today which are to be shown on Sky Sports so he hasn’t forecast another win for Huddersfield at home Preston.
But on Monday in the Sky Sports game on Sky he thinks Huddersfield will drop points with a 2-2 draw at Derby County.
If that happens Newcastle gain 2 points on the Terriers whatever we do at Ipswich Town.
David Prutton – another prediction we will drop points
Here’s what David says about Newcastle for today’s game:
“This is a tough call. Newcastle fans don’t like me going against them yet when I backed them to draw against Sheffield Wednesday they lost!”
“Leeds, meanwhile, came good at Preston after a couple of defeats.” “It’s the business end of the season and for that reason I foresee a hard-fought draw at St James’ Park.”
Prutton predicts: 2-2
We make that in the last 15 league games David has taken us to lose points in 9 of the games – including losses at Brighton and Huddersfield – games we won.
If those 9 Prutton predictions had come true we would be in the top two – that’s for sure.
But in games he took us to win like at home to Bristol Rovers and away at Reading we drew 2-2 to Bristol and only drew 0-0 at Reading so there’s 4 points we lost.
Yes – we’ll blame Prutton for that too.
But David is also maybe trying to make a name for himself because he gets publicity from at least the Newcastle press almost every week and we suppose any publicity is good publicity if you are a practicing Pundit.
Prutton has seemed against Newcastle ever since he came in to take over from Ian Holloway as the Championship pundit.
That was after Ian got a real job again on the front lines as the QPR manager – on 11th November last year.
Ian was quite a fan of Newcastle before that but not David – there would seem to be nothing better for this pundit if Newcastle didn’t get promoted.
Maybe I’m wrong on that – but it’s yet another reason why Newcastle must win today, but we have to be a lot better than the pathetic show we put in last Saturday at Hillsborough when we were well beaten 2-1 by the Owls.
