Sky Pundit At It Again – Predicts (Hopes) Newcastle Drop Points

David Prutton is predicting that Brighton will beat Wolves away and Newcastle will  draw 2-2 at home to Leeds and if those predictions are accurate Brighton will be on their way to winning the Championship 4 points ahead of Newcastle with only 4 games to play.

David is only predicting the games today which are to be shown on Sky Sports so he hasn’t forecast another win for Huddersfield at home Preston.

But on Monday in the Sky Sports  game on Sky he thinks Huddersfield will drop points with a 2-2 draw at Derby County.

If that happens Newcastle gain 2 points on the Terriers whatever we do at Ipswich Town.

David Prutton – another prediction we will drop points

Here’s what David says about Newcastle for today’s game:

“This is a tough call. Newcastle fans don’t like me going against them yet when I backed them to draw against Sheffield Wednesday they lost!”

“Leeds, meanwhile, came good at Preston after a couple of defeats.”  “It’s the business end of the season and for that reason I foresee a hard-fought draw at St James’ Park.”

Prutton predicts: 2-2

We make that in the last 15 league games David has taken us to lose points in 9 of the games – including losses at Brighton and Huddersfield – games we won.

If those 9 Prutton predictions had come true we would be in the top two – that’s for sure.

But in games he took us to win like at home to Bristol Rovers and away at Reading we drew 2-2 to Bristol and only drew 0-0 at Reading so there’s 4 points we lost.

Yes – we’ll blame Prutton for that too.

🙂

But David is also maybe trying to make a name for himself because he gets publicity from at least the Newcastle press almost every week and we suppose any publicity is good publicity if you are a practicing Pundit.

Prutton has seemed against Newcastle ever since he came in to take over from Ian Holloway as the Championship pundit.

That was after Ian  got a real job again on the front lines as the QPR manager –  on 11th November last year.

Ian was quite a fan of Newcastle before that but not David – there would seem to be nothing better for this pundit if Newcastle didn’t get promoted.

Maybe I’m wrong on that – but it’s yet another reason why Newcastle must win today, but we have to be a lot better than the pathetic show we put in last Saturday at Hillsborough when we were well beaten 2-1 by the Owls.

Prutton is just showing what he is… A 3rd or fourth choice fill-in pundit..

We look a lot more balanced with Clarke and Yedlin in the side. I’ve been a bit disappointed in Lascelles this season overall. Thought he was going to come on in leaps and bounds. Has the captaincy affected him, I wonder?

I hope those in my area bring their singing voices to the party this evening, because there will be 3000 odd Leeds fans full of ale there. I don’t want to be hearing them! Sing your hearts oot for the laaaaads!! 🙂
You don’t need your voice for tomorrow.

    hibbit,
He popped in yesterday with it and to also to pour scorn on those that weren’t listed while posting one of his ancient plaguarised posts that was meant to show he was on his approved list.

Tbf I reckon a draw is most likely

Had a little look on some Leeds sites to grasp their opinion on the game and there wasnt one really (makes me realize how lucky we are to have this blog tbh as its a wasteland out there). Did find two interesting bits former Leeds defender Ben Parker thinks we are there for the taking and trust me he knows his stuff…I assume Ive never heard of him AND one of their sites thinks Leeds should rescue Wenger from Arsenal and install him as Monks mentor…clearly didnt follow how Monk reacts to such ideas

    Lindisfarne,
Brown ale is brewed by Heineken who aren’t to shabby of an outfit, it would all depend if they thought they could recoup 10M a year in sales by doing it, more likely to see the logo than the star though, it would be class though.

Jail Atsu is inconsistent but we need to take that chance as without him we play a slow predictable game with very little creativity. The biggest issue is we don’t have a no10 but that will hopefully be solved in the summer. For the prem we need at least 6 first team players and a few to add to the squad. That will likely only allow us to compete at the bottom to mid end of the prem (unless the buys are really top class like Gilfi which won’t happen).

    WW…,
Aye, that Terriers talk that welshhudders9 posts on gets literally four posts a week spread over five threads. From what I’ve seen of others this is by far the liveliest.

    Nufc-83,
I don’t think Rafa is prepared to take that chance and would rather play a slow predictable game. It won’t be lost on him that due to promises not being kept in January it is his ability being questioned where as if Townsend had of been bought he’d be tearing up this league. I don’t see him putting up with it again in the summer.

Ye gutted we didn’t get Townsend when he has confidence he is a top class player and we would have already won the league for sure if he had come.

Why as a club do we wait forever to blood youngsters? It’s Really infuriating that we don’t give them chances the way other clubs do, at an early age. Lots of promising players we have had, billed as the best from our academy, seem to wait on the sidelines. You never know til you give them a chance!
We gave up Mbabu when he impressed with limited chances. We seem to be waiting for someone to come and buy Arma without giving him a proper go. Roberts, Barlaser, Sterry and now Heardman have all shown lots of promise but we will lose them to eagle eyed scouts if we’re not going to try them out and trust our own systems!

When Rafa gets us promoted he holds all the Aces, he could have walked in January but stayed to finish the job. People saying he was expected to get us promoted doesn’t take away the fact that he is about to. If Ashley is going to mess him about he can walk straight in to the West Ham job and very possibly Arsenal, their fans weren’t complaining about the football when winning titles and cups under George Graham.

Prutton is no mor qualified to predict a football result than us as is proved by his record.
Personally I’ve predicted us to win every game because a. I’m biased, and b. We have a better team than the others!
    Haha!
