The Unlikely Man Of The Match Against Leeds

Newcastle put in a very good performance on Friday night but at the business end of the season the result is all important and we didn’t get the win we so desperately needed in this game in front of a sold-out St. James’ Park.

But there were a lot of good things to take away from the game – we looked a good side completely committed to the cause and two of our returning players had good games.

Aleksandar Mitrovic just wins our Man of the Match award (24% of vote) with a good performance and an assist for Newcastle’s goal scored by captain Jamaal Lascelles.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – Man of the Match

The Serbian has had a disappointing season but all indications are that Rafa will keep in the squad for the Premier League next season.

He’s closely followed by a player we have missed a lot more than we think over the last couple of months.

Isaac Hayden (23%) is in second place and looked like a future Newcastle superstar he could become in a year or two.

And third in the voting is that man Matt Ritchie (21%), who has shown massive consistency all this year and has knocked in a valuable 15 goals for us in all competitions this season – 11 in the Championship.

Matt’s had a terrific first season at Newcastle and he’s a hugely popular player on Tyneside.

The lads deserved a lot better than e got but hopefully a win at Portman Road tomorrow afternoon will relieve the pressure.

The lads were great for us on Friday night and it was one of our best performances for some time.

They deserve great credit for that.

Ok, very last comment. Ed my good man, give the lad a bit more credit. He had a very good game, changed the way we play. Without him, we look like we’re playing with no CF.
