Rafa In Move For 25 Year-Old England International

There’s news today in the Mirror that Newcastle are  interested in Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson.

It turns out the once capped England international will have one year left on his contract at Arsenal this summer and he finds first team games at Arsenal hard to come by so he really has no future with the Gunners.

Newcastle were first interested in Jenkinson three years ago in the summer of 2014, but nothing came of that interest.

Carl Jenkinson – Arsenal right-back

Carl has played only 5 times for the Arsenal first team this season and he will be looking to find another club this summer and Arsenal will be looking to sell him before he becomes a free agent next year.

Rafa has a good relationship with Arsene Wenger, so if he really wants Carl then the chances are good we can get him and he has decent Premier League experience.

He’s played 90 times in the Premier League during his career – 38 times for the Gunners and 52 times for the Hammers whilst on loan there over a couple of seasons starting in 2014.

If Carl is a real target it may not look good for Dutch International Vurnon Anita, although Rafa will want a big squad for the Premier League next term.

Carl usually plays right back but he can also play in central defense, although it’s certain that Rafa will be bringing in a specialist at that position and that could well be Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross, who would be exactly what we need.

Leadership and massive Premier League experience.

We have never thought Carl was a great player, but he’s certainly a solid right-back and if Rafa really wants him then he must see the potential that he can develop.

Carl started his career at Charlton Athletic and joined Arsenal in 20111.

The 25 year-old made 62 total appearances for Arsenal, 50 for the Hammers and 9 for Charlton Athletic.

Carl is a decent enough right back.

What do you think?

Carl jenkinson – No thanks not an upgrade on yedlin and is relatively poor.

Cairney looks good in this league but he runs the risk of being a complete flop at Prem level as I dont think he possesses any stand out attributes apart from posisbly distance shooting.

Exactly, its just b0llocks to write something about us, people will start taking us seriously when we do something in the prem.

Shelvey, gayle, ritchie, clark, hayden and yedlin are a class above everyone else in this league, the rest have found their standard and rafa has certainly over achieved with the likes of dummett gouffran anita colback diame

You might be right about cairney its a risk but a lot of players have proved that if they can be standout players in the champ they can do it in the prem, if you look at the stats on whoscored, cairney is top of the league for most amount of key passes, highest pass success rate (10 goals and 10 assists hes got so far) last time i checked, he’s certainly a player who can dictate the game like shelvey but tends to play high up the pitch, watched him a lot this season i do think he’d massively improve us, also been fulham’s captain would add leadership qualities to the dressing room can only be a good thing.

Wouldn’t mind jenkinson as competition to yedlin if anita and gamez leaves tho, but think we can do better

Not read that article but yeah it’s a joke, every team is reliant on 2/3 players. We’re not people’s favourite team and most pundits/journalists enjoy us doing poorly. Very rare do we come across a positive report or article.

Apparently were favourites to sign Tommy Abraham. Not sure if it’s genuine and I don’t see it happening in all honesty.

I’d love to get Keane from Burnley. He’s leaving them at end of season. He will be going back to Manure I think. Can always dream though

Im a fan of cairney. Think he offers more than distance shooting, great passing, good touch and awareness and for me he shows intelligence when playing the 10 role as he can control a game.

People keep banging on about cairney ,i admit i have liked him for 2 seasons now but if anyone watched fulham get smashed by tottenham in the cup he wasnt good at all gave the ball away a few times in dangerous areas one even leading to a goal

I just think the massive gulf in class will swallow a player like Cairney up and he will cost a fortune I would guess. On the other hand you dont know until the kid has had a chance so its a difficult one. When I have watched him he has looked ok with decent passing but I try and vision him in a prem side and I really think he could struggle in such a key area of the pitch.

The fact that only 3 (including us in 09/10) out of the last 30 clubs have bounced straight back up after getting relegated, i’d say we’ve done pretty well!

very good player would be perfect for number 10, but no way will west ham sell him/would he come to us.

    NUFC 83

His lack of pace could let him down, but bournemouth have shown that players that are very good in the champ can do well in the prem, hell, josh king was released by blackburn and now look at him. Andre gray and michael keane other examples.

I think he’d be decent, but i just dont think we have a chance of getting sigurdsson.

Chilwell from Leicester would be a great replacement for The Dummy at left back.
