Impressive Newcastle Beat Preston 4-1 To Gain Promotion – YES!!!

Newcastle United got the job done tonight when they beat Preston North End 4-1 in front of over 50,000 ecstatic fans at the venerable St. James’ Park.

Ayoze Perez got us off to a great start after 7 minutes with his 10th goal of the season but Hugill equalized 7 minutes later to silence the home crowd.

Christian Atsu relieved the pressure just before half time with his 4th Championship goal of the season to make it 2-1 at the half.

Ayoze Perez hit a brace tonight

Matt Ritchie then increased the lead when he scored from a penalty after 65 minutes – his 16th goal of the season.

That was after Gallagher had handled the ball on the goal line and he was subsequently sent off – so when Matt scored it looked all over but the shouting

Ayoze then got his second goal of the night after 67 minutes to wrap up what was in truth an easy win and a fine performance from our team.

That puts Ayoze on 11 goals for the season.

Tonight was all about the result – that’s all that mattered – we all knew that.

But to also and to turn in a good performance too – you’ve got to give it to Rafa and his players who are gaining valuable experience this season.

Heaven knows what the antics are after the game – although we are seeing some of them over here in the US.

It was a great win and a terrific season for us – one in which Rafa Benitez risked his stellar name in world football by staying with Newcastle United down below.

Now he can start building a team that can challenge the best in Europe – although that may take some time – but you never know.

Wonder if we can now announce out first signing tomorrow?

Get the fk right fkn in! It may seem that we made hard work of it, but the feat of bouncing straight back up is extremely rare, and the toon have done it twice in recent history. Time for Rafa to plan his rebuild for the prem ???

Have to say that that was a great save by their player, Just want to add that the ref had a good game although we should have had a penalty first half.

It occurs to me our squad will all be playing the next 2 games wanting to be retained
Whereas Brighton’s squad are already in Marbella.
We could be champs yet !

Its about time at this rate if Brighton loose their last 2 and we win our last 2 then we can take top spot.
Hard to see that happening though but then again it is the championship.
Well done to the lads in regards pronotuon and well done to Chris Hughton and to his team as well
Just like Rafa a scholar and a gentleman

    aussiemag –

    It’s even better than that.

If we win on Friday (before Brighton play) then:

Brighton need to WIN BOTH their final games to be
    sure of wimming the Championship.
Even a win and a draw would NOT be enough
IF we win our last two games.

Let’s see how they react to the pressure, although
I still expect them to end up as Champions.

And to think we didn’t want this ref tonight when we found he was born in Huddersfield.
Red card and a penalty he can come to the toon as much as he likes.
