Predicted Newcastle Team That Can Win Promotion Tonight

We put this team out last Friday as the side Rafa will start tonight against Preston North End at home but Friday now seems a long time ago.

Since then the team above us – Brighton – and the two teams below us – Huddersfield and Reading – have all lost games.

So tonight could see a Newcastle win and with it our promotion immediately back to the Premier league.

🙂 🙂 🙂

Rafa Benitez
A lot has happened since last Monday’s defeat

Here’s the team that can take Newcastle back to the Premier League against the Lilywhites.

Yedlin Lascelles (c) Clark Dummett
Shelvey Hayden
Ritchie Perez Gouffran

There’s experince in that team with Ciaran Clark hopefully starting the game and Daryl Murphy up front and the mature and experienced Irish striker could even get the goal(s) to take us up.

This could be one of the great nights for our players, certainly so far in their careers, but to have it be that way we must win this game – and concentration must be at 100% for the full 90 minutes.

If the lads can do that then we will have done massively well this season in what has been a tough and extremely taxing season for both fans and players alike.

What would your team be for Preston?

    @ manx
    Hard to pick one mind
Murphy has done really well and could stay for a year in the prem.

I would pick mitro but just coz i like him and want him to be successfull.

Yep, desperate to win the game he will be.
How that manifests itself is the thing that concerns me with the many faces of Mitro.
I would pick Murphy to start, for his goalscoring form, his experience and general team contribution.
But Mitro to come bulldozing off the bench second half and burst the net at the Gallowgate end has irresistible appeal, I will give you that!

Be amazed if Mitro doesn’t start. We and He played really well against Leeds, understand the decision to start Murphy away to his old club and Murphy hasn’t let himself down this season, but Preston have looked Petrified of Mitrovic both games we played against them this season.
I’d be tempted (rafa won’t) to go 4-4-2 and play both upfront. The crowd would be electric from team announcement

If people leave early after the Barnsley game instead of showing appreciation to Rafa and the lads then shame on them. If promotion isn’t good enough then the myth of deluded Geordie s might not be such a myth after all. This has been a season where every single team has bust a gut to better us and promotion has been difficult. Villa spent a lot more than us and look at them. I’ll stay behind I know that.

Not really been a Mitrovic fan so far in all honesty, but watching him play for Serbia makes me hopeful he’ll be a top player. Around better technical players for them, he plays quite a mature, effective focal point and really allows the creative players behind him to play (especially tadic).
Similarly, his best performances for Anderlecht came in the champions league against the better sides.
Some players just suit playing at higher levels with better players

I’ve gone for Mitro simply because of horses for courses. He’s already scored four against these already this season and that’s the sort of detail I imagine a Rafa notices.

@Bobbybee – agree totally! People need to realise that we were a team last year not good enough for the premier league who then went on to sell 70m of players aswell as loaning out Krul, Saivet, Thauvin and De Jong.
The players we bought in – Gayle (wasn’t in the palace team), Ritchie (mainly a sub that season) yedlin (had shown nothing) Clark (villa fans were glad to see the back of him) Hanley (solid championship CB), Hayden (doubt any of us had seen him), Diame, Atsu etc
The players we already had – Shelvey (ok, world class player), Dummett (ya’all hate him even now) ,Lascelles (good potential, not yet a top player) Mbemba (was 1 half of the worst defense we’ve had last year) Colback (hasn’t played well since the month he signed)
Shelvey aside… who is it in our squad that makes us think we should have blitzed this league? Because I know none of these players before this season showed anything in a Newcastle shirt to suggest they are top players, a couple showed the odd flash
Championships a hard league, and we’ve not been out the top 2 in forever, job done if we get promoted, its a very young side with few players that have won anything within it, the deserve recognition for the accomplishment!

We haven’t had too many that were not nail bitters, but it would be awesome to clinch top two in style tonight.

If / when we beat PNE I wonder if there will be a celebration starter tonight? After all, that will be the moment we seal promotion.
If disappoints me to see the crowd streaming out at near the end at home games,I have to say. I understand people have different situations, commitments, …and they have to get a head start for one reason or another.
It means a late finish on a night game.. But if you’re there, you’re invested in it and I don’t get how people can do it!

I think we would all like to mitro start if we get the Leeds version .
Kept his head despite everything they tried on him.
There’s no question he would be up for a game like this the hard part is not getting the bull in a china shop version.
His desperation to do well sometimes gets the better of him in the big games .
We could give him the first half to go hard out the blocks and if he gets booked then hook him off for murphy , who I like , who to be offers better movement and seems to put away the chances more consistently
Either way just hope we get an early goal to settle the nerves .
One more sleep to go … For us in Aus

    I’d like to see:

    Yedlin, Mbemba, Clark, Lazaar
    Hayden, Shelvey
    Ritchie, Perez, Atsu

Feel that Mbemba deserves a chance alongside the experienced Clark and Lascelles could do with a game out of the limelight. Also we need to be pushing them backwards from teh off and Atsu does this with his running at pace.

Fear we’ll see Darlow, Anita, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett, Hayden, Shelvey, Ritchie, Diame, Gouffran and Murphy though.

Should be good enough either way mind!!

    Confirmed Rafa Bingo lineup:

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . Darlow . . . . . . . . . . . .
    . Yedlin . Lascelles . Clark . Dummett .
    . . . . . . Shelvey . . . . . . Hayden . . . . . .
    . Ritchie . . . . . . Perez . . . . . Gouffran .
    . . . . . . . . . . . . Mitrovic . . . . . . . . . . . .

I’d like to see Mbemba and Atsu in but think Rafa will return to this lineup. Anita could throw a wrench in this, but I think he’ll stick with Yedlin. Looking forward to the Prem! HWTL.

This is the team Rafa will start with tonight, a game which will mark our return to the premier league:
    Yedlin Lascelles(capt.) Clarke Dummett
    Shelvey Hayden
    Ritchie Gouffran Perez
Subs: Elliott, Diame, Atsu, Mbemba, Mitrovich, Colback, Jesus.

That team takes us back where we belong.
Rafa is the king of Tyneside!
