Comment #6Been a long slog but got there in the end – Yahooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
tonight’s game – strange – strange – great start 1 up yet the crowd seemed subdued weird atmosphere. preston got back into the game and opened us up at will scored a simple goal our defence were miles away.
Scored a excellent second – started well second half then went into our usual slumber until a great diving save by their player turned the game scored the penalty and you could see/feel the tension ballon burst.
From then on the TOON played some canny football.
DID anyone else notice that we hardly ever passed back to Elliot I think it was one headed backless first half and one with the feet second half.
My merit marks
Elliot 7 did nowt wrong pulled off a brilliant one-on-onefirst half.
Anita 4 had a poor game – kept on getting beat for speed and caught out of position time and time again
Clark 5 poor for most of the game got muscled beaten in the air all to easily
Lascalles 5 again beaten all to easy in the air and bullied off the ball looked like he and Clark had never played together before
Dummett 7 pick of our defenders.
Shelvey 6 Ok but tried t he killer ball all to often – mind you lack of movement up front
Ritchie 8 played well took his pen well – tireless display
Atsu 7 took his goal well but not at his best until late on when he tried to beat his man instead of turning back on himself
Hayden 9 my man of the match wanted the ball hardly wasted the ball great all-round game.
Perez 7 had a decent game and solved two goals in – right place at the right time
Mitro 8 had a very good game but did not have his shooting boots on but led the attack well held the ball up and brought others into play. great lay-off for our second goal.
subs
Goufran 5 linked up well did ok
Colback 7 did well and laid off a couple of great passes.
Murphy 6 did well up front with Mitro gets into some great positions canny passer of the ball

Comment #7And that, ladies and gentlemen, is us PROMOTED!
Rafa strode onto the pitch and headed over to the east Gallowgate…where his name has been chanted loud and proud all season. Class!
Knackered physically and mentally, off to bed. Enjoy, and goodnight.

Comment #8Think that Philli Albert goal might be my favorite ever toon goal.
Witnessed that HBA goal while me mate was away at the bog.
As for tonight, what could I say that no one has said? Nowt. Mint game gallogate was in fine coice except for that bit of the first half where folk were getting nervous.
I got the feeling in the 10 minutes before the second goal rafa changed tactics a bit. Let them have the ball a bit as their counter attacktic looked as if it could have caused us a few problems. After that second goal there was only going to be one outcome. PROMOTION! Thank fluck.

Comment #10Just got back in. What a game.
We bossed the first half (despite the goal, where Anita was caught ball watching), and in the second half we gave up possession to force some space.
Fantastic atmosphere, and fantastic performance from the lads, the fans, the lot.
More of the same on Friday, lads!

Comment #12If we win our last two matches and Brighton don’t win any of theirs (draws are no good either) then we will go up in 1st. In all honesty I don’t care where we finish since we’re up now. Would prefer to see Findlay, sterry, Lazaar, barlaser, heardman get game time. If good is not injured I’d like to see him get a game too. Even give Fernandez and Gibson a run out.

Comment #14Just back home and done in, but ecstatic that we’re back up. Refuse to give up on the title because stranger things have happened.
Preston came to spoil with ten outfield players behind the ball. Anita – wow – determined to spoil the party. Repeatedly out of position and could’ve cost us the game a few times. No idea where his head was. Give me Yedders all day every day.
That said, who cares? We’re up. Mission accomplished. Most teams are lucky to play one cup final a season, whereas we’ve played forty-odd. Every side has raised their game for us and for most players in the league, playing at SJP is as close as they’ll get to Wembley. That effect cannot be understated. Every one wanted to beat us and I read somewhere that stats confirm that, with milage covered in games against us being highest, along with tackles etc. Well done Rafa. Well done the lads and well done the fans. Just, we’ll done really. 🙂

You must’ve been in and out of your seat, up and down like a yo-yo. Hope your back’s still in reasonable fettle!

Comment #18Chicousa, well worth the effort my friend. Need to lie down now though, I’m proper knackered. 🙂 Dummett has slowly won me round as the season’s progressed. Distribution still needs a lot of work, but his defending has improved to the point where I no longer panic when they go down his wing. Just slow steady improvement under Rafa and he’s still a young man. He’ll be a solid squad player next season imo. Can’t see Anita being retained now, he’s struggled lately and tonight he was dangerous. Anyway, that’s for another day. Tonight and tomorrow is all about celebrating a return at the first attempt. Only Burnley and us have done it in six seasons. That’s two out of eighteen clubs. Let that sink in people. Quite an achievement in anybody’s books. A very difficult league to get out of first attempt and doing it ugly appears to be the way to do it. Buzzing. Enjoy the moment matey, I know I am. 🙂

Comment #19Lesh, not so clever mate! Lmao. But this is how it is now mate. I won’t move now for two days but for me it’s worthwhile. I’ve accepted it now and take my punishment after every game. It’s that or stop going and that, my friend, is simply not an option. I love it too much. I’m not alone in that. Others suffer more than I do I imagine, but they too feel it’s worthwhile. Either that, or their carer forces them to go so they can get in! Lmao loudly. I think it’s the first reason though. Go, enjoy the game, and pay for it later. Nights like tonight make it all worth it mate. Get in the Toon! 🙂 🙂 And on that note, I shall retire to my boudoir, take copious amounts of pain killers and sleep the sleep of one very happy football fan. A never ending love affair. TOON TOON BLACKNWHITEARMY. When it comes to football, may I never grow up. That childlike buzz is the biz. G’night mate.
