Dwight Gayle is still not recovered enough from his hamstring injury to play at Cardiff City tomorrow night.
And Rafa has also four of our players have slight injuries but will not be in the squad for tomorrow’s game in south Wales.
Rafa will want to win this game tomorrow night so we are set up for a season ending finale at St. James’ Park a week on Sunday and all games will kick of at high noon.
Rafa Benitez and Rolando Aarons last July – the youngster has phenomenal skills
If Brighton win just one of their last two games they will go up as Champions and we would congratulate them on that excellent achievement – after just failing by two goals yo get second place and automatic promotion.
Instead Middlesbrough went up and will come straight back down next month, along with Sunderland.
This is what Rafa said today on the injury front:
“Lascelles, Ritchie, Hanley and Anita are not in the squad. They need to rest injuries. We hope to have them for the last one”
It turns out that Matt Richie has played his last game for Newcastle this season as he has admitted an FA misconduct charge and is suspended for two games with immediate effect.
He’s had a fabulous first season at Newcastle and his 16 goals were magnificent and his highest goal tally for a single season in his career.
🙂
So here’s a team that could start tomorrow at Cardiff City Stadium:
Elliot
Yedlin Mbemba Clark Dummett
Shelvey (c) Hayden
Atsu Diame Gouffran
Murphy
We expect to see Rob stay in goal with Karl Darlow coming back in for the last game – Darlow has had a great season for us and deserves every credit.
And Christian Atsu should get another start on the right wing and there’s a chance Rolando Aarons could even get a start on the left wing – if he’s fit enough.
But maybe Rafa will not want to risk him at all this season, so he can have a full summer of strengthening and fitness exercises and be super ready for pre-season.
Let’s hope the 21 year-old can have some much better luck as far as injuries go – he can still become a phenomenal player for us down the road.
Daryl Murphy should get a chance up front and he usually scores when he starts away from home – another player who did the job for us when he was called on.
What team would you start tomorrow?

Comment #45WWSBRD, he’s the natural choice mate. I believe he is vice captain. Did we appeal the red card? I presume we did or the ban would’ve come sooner. Again, only presumption, but was it about the added time? Certainly cost us, scoring in the last seconds, but you can’t change it once it’s done. Not like he’s going to say ‘oh yeah, you’re right, I’ll cancel that goal, you win 1-0’ is it? If we win atCardiff and Brighton lose, he’s going to regret that, along with the rest of us.

You mentioned him not me, you typed a statement that I didn’t agree with, I’ve hardly mentioned him since Rafa got here. But if you’re going to come out and spout nonsense like he’s nowhere near the worst owner in the league I’ve every right to voice my opinion that he is.

Comment #47Hayden played a few games at cb for hull I believe. I think he’s better in midfield because he has more to offer in his battling qualities in midfield and going forward. Playing him at cb will take away these qualities. He’s an intelligent player though and can play numerous positions and when you hear him talk you get the feeling that he’s quite clever and switched on. Need more players like this in other positions.
Would like to see barlaser play again but I don’t see him playing alongside Shelvey in a 2, could play him further forward like he did v Birmingham in the cup replay. Sterry should be given a game but I’m not sure if he’s injured, I remember hearing that when he came back from Coventry.

Comment #48Jib Jibberish – you could start off a “Penfold is Innocent” campaign. Sure to get one or two backing you.
You could tell the tale of poor old Lee Charnley -fast asleep in bed when the revenue called at 6 O’clock in the morning. They just happened to be in the area and decided to see if he would help them out in a case they had.
Lee must have said ” No bother lads I’ll get me clothes on happy to help out if I can”.
You might have trouble explaining why the revenue burst into his pad and started looking through drawers/under the bed and seizing his electronic gear.
You’re the man for this Jib – good crusade for you.

I read that we decided not to appeal it but I don’t know what the delay was about maybe had to investigate the incident as it was in the tunnel? No idea
Either way Ritchie needs to sort his mouth out he’s a huge part of our team and he can’t keep letting his mouth get the better of him

Promotion secured, time to prepare for next season. This season’s two top EPL teams, Chelsea and Spurs start games with three at the back, with two wing-backs accompanying three central mid-fielders.
The two forwards could be simply numbers 10 and 9.
This is the line-up which perhaps should start tomorrow, but knowing Rafa he will probably find a spot for Sammy.
Remember, ‘FSW’ really is an acronym for ‘Fantastic Spanish Winner’. Just saying…

Comment #52Jail, that’s what the blogs for mate. My point was disbelieving msm when it comes to shit stirring about Ashley and Rafa. I say one thing, you say another, that’s the while point innit?
Further to my point exactly, which completely proves my point about the press and their – shall we say – dislike for us and how they love to stir it up. On talksport this news break. ‘Four arrests, with Marveaux being the latest person arrested’.
Four arrests? So why are the only two people named connected to us? Penfold and Marveaux. No mention of anybody else, despite them admitting two other UNNAMED people.
That was the point I was making mate. We all know what a dick Ashley is, but we need to be careful about believing nonsense stories designed purely and simply to cause arguments with the fan base.
My point was ignore them. Totally unfounded claims about Ashley not contacting Rafa, when it turns out he had, immediately.
The press dislike us, it’s that simple. They’ll jump on any chance to diss us and we shouldn’t fall for it.
Typically Adrian Durham is continuing the lie now. Another prize nob.

Comment #58WWSBRD, strange the ban wasn’t immediate then. Glad it wasn’t though, we’re over the line now and thanks in no small part to Ritchie – and Preston’s second keeper! 🙂
You are right about him though. Bad enough losing players for deserved cards, without losing them for giving it large. He needs to clean that up for next season, where he’ll be, needed even more.

Comment #62Ritchie’s got the intensity and competitiveness to make it in the Prem. Some of our other players, not so much. We’ll need five or six good incoming to finish around tenth. Is that possible with Ashley? I have my doubts. And we don’t have any star players to sell now to pay for it. I think we’ll spend around 30M on 3 players and stagger through next season finishing around 15th. I hate to think how that might affect Rafa.

Comment #71So Rafa is now in trouble for merely questioning the appointment of a Huddersfield fan as ref for a crucial game. Are these people idiots? (Rhetorical question). They don’t allow Geordies to ref our games and rightly so. That doesn’t mean they can’t be trusted, it just prevents people asking questions about any controversial decisions. Would they allow Clattenburg to ref a game involving Sunlun, if it was between us and them to who goes up or down? Probably not. After some of the decisions we’ve had, for which Rafa has been amazingly reasonable about, is he not entitled to ask the question? Better to raise it beforehand surely? It’s all about how it looks, even more than how it is. That Burton decision was a shocker, even more so when four officials all got it wrong. I mean, how can that even happen? I still don’t get it myself. All Rafa did was raise the question. Don’t remember this happening to SAF too often and he would basically accuse refs of cheating!!

So, I’m gonna watch the Manchester derby. Don’t care who wins it. If they could both lose I’d be happier, but I am expecting a good game tbh. I’ll watch any game though, can’t get enough football. My brother thinks I’m addicted – can’t see why. 🙂 Is this an eight o’clock ko? Might squeeze a shower in if it is. Anybody tell me quickly?

Comment #80Proper blood and thunder derby if lacking in the technical department. Good to watch for sure. City the better side by a margin, but Manure dangerous on the break, especially Rashford who looks to have the City defence on toast speed-wise. Well worth a watch.
