Rafa Confident And Happy – Already Talked To Ashley On His Summer Plans

This is the  first press conference since Newcastle have gained that automatic promotion spot – our major goal for this season.

Next season’s goal is top four in the Premier League and the season after that the goal will be to win the Champions League outright.

What the heck’s in my coffee this morning?

🙂 🙂 🙂

Rafa Benitez – gave press conference for Cardiff City game tomorrow night

Excuse me I got carried away again  – back to reality.

The major news coming out of the press conference this afternoon is that Mike Ashley has already called Rafa, talked to him  and congratulated him on the promotion and a job well done – so that story in the Times was not accurate today.

This is good news for Newcastle fans.

Rafa has already talked to Mike about what he wants to do this summer and has been in constant communication with Lee Charnley, including  yesterday.

The HMRC investigation is related to something that happened over four or five years ago.

Mr. Benitez will have his one-on-one meeting with Mike Ashley and talk about everything – including himself – he seems to be looking forward to it.

It doesn’t seem to us there is a big rift between Mike And Rafa from the manager’s comments today, but the manager is very very ambitious because he wants to make Newcastle United great again.

🙂 🙂 🙂

Here’s some of what Rafa said:

“What we have achieved has been really important for everyone here.”

“It is a great achievement, and the players deserve credit for that.”

“We had to create a new team competing in this division but they did really well. If we win, we will break the away record”

“If we win our games and Brighton make mistakes, we will be champions. We will try to do it.”

“Cardiff are very competitive. It will be a difficult game.”

“We will challenge Brighton and see what happens. We have two games, and we have to do our best.”

“Lascelles, Ritchie, Hanley and Anita are not in the squad. They need to rest injuries. We hope to have them for the last one”

“With all these things going on (HMRC) we’re trying to do business as usual.”

“It happened in the past, four or five years ago. I have to concentrate on football and do my job”

“I spoke to Lee Charnley yesterday evening and today about pre-season. We just concentrate on football and training”

“We are trying to do things as usual. We trained as normal. Preseason will start on July 3, but we still have to decide where”

“I have held conversations with Mike Ashley about what is going on and what they will do.”

“I’m confident. I’m happy. I will meet with Mike Ashley to discuss everything, including myself”.

4 or 5 years ago Charnley was just the club secretary wasnt he?

Anyway Lascelles and Ritchie will be a big miss tomorrow, will be interesting to see Mbemba and Clark together though both more comfortable with the ball at feet (though Clark is decent in the air) do Cardiff play on the deck?
Atsu and Gouffran on the wings will be alright in Ritchies absence could be some kids on the bench as well?

There now. Rafa’s said everything the red tops didn’t want to hear.

He’s not daft and we’ll have to wait and see how things pan out during the break.

By club secretary he would have actually been Company Secretary.

lesh, Carr said he only talks to Ashley about once a year, similar to Benitez. That is not what I call a right hand man.

Sometimes things really are what they are. The club is run by Charnley, run by a framework set out by Ashley.

Pint-sized Anita would only need a couple and he’d be comatose. Surprised Dummett isn’t on the list because he looked well on his way in the celebration dressing room pics.

    Should be an interesting line-up.

Well Yedlin will be at right back, while Gouffran will most likely be right wing to replace Ritchie, and possibly Gayle back up front.

Lets suppose you are the MD, DOF or Chief scout so called at a big club.
It’s a position of incredible influence and power. A position that can be abused.
Especially if you are not held to account by a shrewd owner or a clued up board of directors.
You need people in those positions of the highest integrity.
Wealth without power or power without wealth leads to corruption.
That’s because you could convince the club to buy a player at a set fee even if he was not worth it. The incentive being a kick back from the player or other middle person.
If the club manager is a stooge who won’t argue so much the better.
I’m not saying this has happened at any club in particular mind. Just a hypothetical observation on the dangers of of authority without accountability or checks and balances.

Must admit Ritchie liked Knackered last ten minutes of Preston game
Anita had one of his poorest games in a TOON shirt.
And I wonder if RAFA is taking Lascalles out of the firing line or has he been carrying a injury last few weeks – bit like Hayden was before his operation – because he has come back a better player

Carr also said he had no idea about agents before signing a players and thats either not true or he has accidentally bought almost exclusively from one agency which is quite something

This is why we need to ignore shyte stirring stories in the press. Too quick to start unfounded stories between Rafa and Ashley and stir up vad memories. For all the ‘he hasn’t even contacted Rafa’ bullcrap in the Times and other papers happy to bail in, it turns out he has and Rafa appears relaxed about it.
I get it, I really do. Ashley’s been a dick and nobody will even try to deny it. The sooner he goes the better – depending who buys us of course – but for now he’s still here and we’re stuck with him. He’s nowhere near the worst owner in football and a million miles from the best, but people are a bit too eager to go into meltdown over the flimsiest piece of propaganda.
So far he’s played a hands off roll as he promised. Is that not what we wanted? I know I did. Leave it to football people I said and he has. Unless Rafa says things have changed, then things remain the same. Ashley does football and Penfold fiddles taxes – that’s how it works. 🙂 Ashley COULD blow it all, but at the same time, he could not. If he does, we face that where and when. Let’s not quibble about what he might do, or that could get really silly.
We’re promoted. Happy days. Ashley’s track record isn’t sparkling, but lately he’s been in the background and things have gone relatively smoothly. (this latest debacle is from the past). Enjoy the moment and if – IF – Ashley messes up, then we can address that. Until then, I’m happy to take Rafa on his word that all’s well and he’s in charge.

    NUFC

    Is a sole proprietor business.

There does not exist a board of directors.

When Mclaren was appointed Ashley called Moncur (club ambassador), Charnley (company sec) , Carr (chief scout) and SM – the Football board – an entirely meaningless title.

that title surely go’s to Charnley
Carr’s very rarely in Newcastle and i can count on one hand the number of home game’s hes attended in the last 2/3 seasons Bishop has attended dozens more games than him

To be fair to dummett, he has shown that he’s trying to develop his attacking side to his play. Ipswich for example, the amount of times he got up in support for atsu and he put in quite a few crosses where they were actually decent (Ritchie header) rather than just over hitting them wildly as per usual. He even had that turn that sold the defender and made him look very silly! I personally can’t knock a player who tries and although some aspects of his game are poor, he still continues having a go.

If Ritchie isn’t playing I’d be interested to see if Lazaar gets a game on the left wing with atsu at home on the right. Would be good to give Findlay a game but I guess it also an opportunity to see clark and mbemba together at cb. Would actually hope to see sterry play at rb.

Carr lives darn sarf somewhere as does Ashley and being at mafches together isn’t the only way they can talk. Phones, video calls and emails are available too.

As far as Carr and Ashley being at the Birmingham match together and shortly before Rafa’s proposed incoming transfers didn’t materialise, was that coincidence?

Sorry, but I still say that Carr’s Ashley’s advisor on what goes on at SJP.

Jib bJibberish – you mentioned earlier that Penfold was interviewed at the HMRC Offices in Benton.
Would it make any difference if I told you that at the Benton site there is no Home Office Approved Custody Suite where detained persons are held/interviewed.

You cannot detain folk otherwise. Could you be suggesting that perhaps in view of inadequate facilities they probably locked Penfold in the cleaners cupboard.

Hayden dm, shelvey just aheadof him and atsu perez and gouffy supporting Gayle/murphy//mitro.
Its got the look of balance dummy will protect atsu and gouffy will protect yedders.
We can attack from both wings and through the middle, while being protected by arguably our best back 5 ………im pleased im going on friday , itl be a bloody long day though, il be knackered on saturday but worth it………promotion party here we come …….yeeeeeeehhhhaaaa

It’s also well known that an owner, chairman, cheif exec etc only hear what they’re told – what the subordinates want their seniors’ to hear.

Carr could be a one to provide the information Ashley doesn’t really need to hear. Ashley’s regarded as very much a hands on owner who renowned for interfering with his senior staff’s activities. Delegated responsibility’s fine while it’s going to his plans!

How can Carr be Ashley’s eyes and ears when Carr isn’t involved in the day to day running of the club. How often during the week do you reckon Carr is at Benton, or discussing finances with Charnley. Not often I suspect.
