Newcastle Fans Still In Football Heaven 12 Hours Later

Newcastle and Rafa Benitez are finishing the season the way we wanted to – winning games – even though we may not now be able to clinch the Championship – but you never know.

Newcastle have won the last two games by a cumulative score of 6-1 and Rafa will want to put on a very good show against Barnsley on the final day of the season – a week tomorrow – the game kicks off at high noon.

This has turned out to be a great season for us.

Newcastle fans in fancy dress at Cardiff last night

We really hope owner Mike Ashley will attend that game in 8 days time and hopefully everybody – including Mike himself – will be UNITED and fully behind Rafa Benitez.

That’s our big hope for next week.

Here’s what some of the fans are talking about this sunny beautiful morning, as the fans still  seem to be in football heaven, even if some of them may have hangovers.

Didn’t know much about Hayden when he first arrived, but after a couple of games deduced he was better in every department than Colback already and doesn’t need to rely on excuses like ‘he’s only young’ like Mitrovic for example.

You’ve either got it or you haven’t and Hayden has.

Was baffled when people were saying we need a proper DM to partner Shelvey next season, just dismissing Hayden out of hand even as recent as a month or so ago I was seeing such posts.

We’ve got the best combative CM we’ve had in over 15 years and he’s also much more than that. He’s only going to get better under Rafa’s tutelage. England honours won’t be far off if he continues in the same vein at PL level and what a bargain at £2.5m!.

Hail, I’m even more baffled by people saying Jon Jo isn’t good enough for the PL! He’s already won England recognition and is clearly a different player under Rafa. Lighter and fitter and more aware. Doesn’t matter what league you ping a sixty yard ball in, it has exactly the same effect in the PL as it does in the Conference!

My take on the game last night from the stands, we controlled the game 1st half and restricted them to very little, the ref actually did ok but we were in total slapdown mode, were better with mbemba and clark together ,that partnership should be allowed to grow.
Second half again we bossed them until Atsus free kick, WOW, i never knew he had that in his locker, we then relaxed and caused them all sorts of problems going forward, Hayden and Colback actually worked as a partnership and Hayden going forward resulted in that thunderstrike of a goal…..the ref should have sent one of the cardiff players off for a 2 footed lunge but only yellow was shown, they came into it towards the end but were poor in front of goal.
All in all ,a 8.5/10 performance to break the away record ,ref probably a 6 (which is very high in this league) and the fans 9.5/10 as it was an amazing night.
Rafa deserves as much credit as everyone cos he just does, Neil Pillock will get done by the F A for his comments about the ref , but people need to realise hes from the same school of managers as Fraudew, curbishley, pulis ,moyes And hippo-heed, Dinosaur managers with no style or class and its never their fault…..i went for Hayden as MOM, and Diame as a not very close 11th, he was abysmal most of the game apart from the odd driving run to get the ball up the pitch, but then was either crowded out, passed to an opposition player or kicked it out of play……great night, i still have no voice yet and have only had about an hours kip….but i would do it all again tomorrow….HWTL HWTF

‘ Fans’ would have won every post-match .best performance poll this season if they were in the mix. Never more so than last night when we showed the club in the best possible light after a shitty week in the boardroom.
