Poll – Who Was Newcastle’s Man Of The Match At Cardiff?

We now have a chance to win our last three games of the season, whether or not we go up as Champions or not.

The great 4-1 win at home to Preston on Monday night that got us that automatic promotion spot was followed last night by a very good 2-0 win at Cardiff City with the highlight of the game being the two stupendous goals from Newcastle.

Christian Atsu scores after 55 minutes

Isaac Hayden scores after 55 minutes

Christian Atsu scored a wonderful goal direct from a free kick (over the wall) and then Isaac Hayden showed his enormous potential with another wonderful technical goal, when be hit the ball so sweetly and like a rocket into the bottom corner of the net from outside the box.

Two great goals from a classy Newcastle display last night.

Hayden is coming on leaps and bounds this season.
Starting to look like he can develop into a top player! Hope his attitude stays canny, and under Rafa I’m optimistic it will!

I voted Hayden here, but could have easily voted Atsu ot Clarke.

Bristols last four reads WWDW and they still need a point to be mathematically sure, howay Bristol stick it up them.
If Brighton win it they deserve it, if we win it we will have deserved it, neither deserves it more than the other, why do Brighton deserve it more than us, simply because we spent more, they have a manager and team much more suited to this division, there are merits for both sides. If we win the league we will have deserved it.

We can see why Rafa went to meet him in person in London to get him signed up. Good work Rafa. But we need at least 4 class players before we can do any form of damage in the prem league. I thought last night was better than some said, even the first half. We looked much better technically

Didn’t know much about Hayden when he first arrived, but after a couple of games deduced he was better in every department than Colback already and doesn’t need to rely on excuses like ‘he’s only young’ like Mitrovic for example.

You’ve either got it or you haven’t and Hayden has.

Was baffled when people were saying we need a proper DM to partner Shelvey next season, just dismissing Hayden out of hand even as recent as a month or so ago I was seeing such posts.

We’ve got the best combative CM we’ve had in over 15 years and he’s also much more than that. He’s only going to get better under Rafa’s tutelage. England honours won’t be far off if he continues in the same vein at PL level and what a bargain at £2.5m!

These polls always go to the goalscorer. To be honest, Atsu gave the ball away several times in poor areas and didn’t always make the runs he could have. Still not convinced at 25 he’s Premiership quality but great free kick and decent all round display.

I voted for Perez for a much improved performance. Atsu should be signed as a squad player or impact sub. Maybe Bristol surprise us and snatch a win today. Title still up in the air.
