This 22 Year-old Croatian Is Rafa Top Target This Summer

The Mail is reporting that Newcastle are interested in signing Jozo Simunovic from Celtic in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle have been interested in this player all season long with reports Rafa that rates the player and would like him at Newcastle in the Premier League next season

Other Premier League teams said to be interested in the player include West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace and there are teams on the continent also interested in him, including Torino.

22 year-old Jozo Simunovic of Celtic

This is the second season for Simunovic at Celtic after he signed on from Dynamo Zagreb for around £3M in the summer of 2015.

He has so far played 29 times for Celtic this season with a single goal and he has played for  Croatia at all the youth levels including 9 times for the U21s.

In the last two season the 6ft 3ins defender has played 46 times for Celtic with two goals and two assists.

But Brendan Rodgers doesn’t want to let his Croatian center-back leave the club this summer, as he tries to build a side that can compete more successfully in Europe next season.

Jozo has shown very good form for Celtic all season long which is why a number of Premier League clubs are interested in the player and Newcastle have had scouts at the Celtic games.

While at Dinamo Zagreb he played 75 times for the first team with three goals.

He’s only 22 years old so a perfect age for Rafa to develop the player in the future if we are really interested in the U21 Croatian International.

He’s reported to be valued at £9M by Celtic, but if other clubs come in for him that fee could rise.

He’s the type of young player with class that Rafa will want to develop and that will please owner Mike Ashley who wants to see a number of younger players brought in who can grow in value and skill under the world-class Spanish manager.

There’s nothing wrong with that as long as Rafa can bring in the experienced older players he also wants.

One of partner’s family lives in Brighton!
Reckons a week of celebrations, advertised, had to be cancelled!
Steve Sidwell saying it put a dampener on their promotion, missing out on winning the title, at home, record crowd and all.
    Let’s hope they’ve blown it!

I have seen this boy play a few times this season.
He is a dominant centre back, better than any of our centre backs, never seen him make mistakes and he is quick. Celtic will not sell him cheaply.

Toontaff…I do feel a bit bad for Hoots, but not that much I must admit.

It does seem things are aligning for us, but trying to not get carried away. It’s still very much Brighton’s to lose.

On the hernia op’s…had one a few years back for a double hernia. Found a rubber glove filled with cold water and tied like a balloon works as a great cushion and helps with the swelling 😉

On the title I think it means more to Brighton than us tbh and I expect them to beat Villa to clinch it

But I would enjoy winning it just for the annoyance of the pundits, I like Brighton but who doesn’t love the bad guy winning?

Haha well I think there’s only 1 team who hasn’t played 3 at back this season in the PL and Rafa is a student of the game…pretty sure we played 3 at the back this season?

…3 1 5 1 is the new black, and white!

    3 backs

1 defensive midfielder/deep playmaker, a very vocal Captain!

    5 midfielders, including 2 wing-backs, an enforcer, a playmaker and a number 10.

1 striker/centre-forward, very fast and active, subbed at 60 minutes by an equally fast clone. A ‘finisher’ in Rugby speak…

We might need 5 at the back when I see city etc in full flow. Let’s hope Ashley backs Rafa fairly and let him get the type of power and pace he will want to play against the teams in the prem. Read deserves to find another Kante out there. A big powerful pacy striker, a left winger and left fullback who can attack and defend. Please, no Mccarthys or other overpriced guys
