Heartfelt Video Of Bradley Lowery Shows Good Side Of Players

On the 14th December the Stadium of Light club invited Bradley Lowery to be their mascot for Sunderland’s Premier League game against Chelsea.

Here’s a video the Sunderland club have released on how Bradley enjoyed that experience.

It shows how great the players of both Sunderland and Chelsea were to the little lad who has shown such outstanding bravery and courage fighting his cancer.

We are still praying for Bradley – miracles are possible.

I don’t get this “Carr was Chief Scout/Director of Football – he didn’t
    sign any players”.

Of course he didn’t – but he DID put names of players forward for
    consideration.
Easy enough to bias that list towards what suited him.
    And maybe Mondial.

The rest of the “Football Board” didn’t have that many options –
accept what Carr said or do the scouting themselves.

You don’t hire a dog and bark yourself.
Plus – Carr had Ashley’s trust – that counts for a lot.

Especially as the manager had been downgraded to “head coach” in those days.

My take on Graham Carr was /is that he is a very good scout brought in by CH and found Tiote, HBA then Cabaye. With every find Mikey became more fond of him and by default became the most qualified member of a very under qualified puppet board. We then ended up with a situation where a failed non league manager was the unofficial DoF of the Worlds 20th richest club. If you didn’t know me better you’d think I was making that up

I put this up merely for curiosity value
    It seems too far fetched
Arnal Jakupovic – a 19 year old Swiss striker of Bosnian descent – that never made Boro’s first team – was sold by the Teesside club to Empoli in January for £1m
Rafa is supposed to be prepared to pay £6m for him !!!

I agree with much of that.
The worst thing that happened was buying Cabaye for 4M and selling him for 20M.
That gave GC a great deal of influence.
Remember the header on this blog – in Carr we trust.

The only thing I would say is that he did not find Toite, Cabaye or HBA.
These were international footballers, playing top league football in a european country.
I can tell you now every club in the prem knew about them and their qualities.
One attraction of Cabaye. His buy out clause was cheap.

On scouting. loads of people are good scouts.
Most ex pros can scout a player.
You don’t let them run your club.

That’s right. Did P45 push to bring in Cabaye? Ditto McClaren for Thauvin?

    poada,
Kind of agree and disagree with that, because with that point of view he wouldn’t really find anyone, because then he’d have to scout schoolboy level and that surely comes under a different umbrella. A scouts job should be to recommend players to a qualified DoF or manager and then for him to decide. It’s telling how Pardew managed better when having players bought for himrather than being let loose himself.

Time/date now with Rafa in charge of signing players/saying yea or nay we at least have some confidence a qualified assessment will be made.
Some will work out and some won’t – but that’s the norm.

    Tuff,
I’m more than happy we have GC as scout, good having PB with the young lads now as well with proper coaches along side him all playing the same way in a seamless transition. Hope to gawd Rafa is here ten years.

The thing is at the top end of the game scouts are not needed.

A good example is Cristiano Ronaldo who came to Fergie’s attention when Sporting defeated United 3–1 at the inauguration of the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon .

Jib ronnies purchase has always been seen as dodgy . arsenal were looking at him for much less. Man u came in with a fair bit of money . dodgy cos the agent was fergies son or similar and took a cut of the increased fee.

Jail – difference now I think is that folk know their jobs/responsibilities.
Whilst I suspect, as others have suggested, Benitez may have his own list of players that interest him – he can clearly instruct Carr to suggest players with qualities x,y,z. -Rafa can then assess them.
Bearing in mind – just about every club -top sides in Europe – will have scouting networks -finding a prospective star on the cheap will not be easy.
Carr probably knows the French market better and Benitez the Spanish.

Sound bites from makems and smog monsters managers on Look North.
Both think they will be able to make a strong challenge to come straight back up.
Nah. It’s a long, tough season, and a tough job ahead. And neither have the finances to improve dire squads.
The best thing Moyes could do is scuttle off to a more realistic proposition.

We got Hugo Vianna, if only. To be fair SBR had an unbeleivable amount of names come through, even lesser lads like Jenas and Bellamy ended up with YPotY, Ronaldo, Romario, Figo, unfortunately that comes with Brambles and Corts as well.

If Ashley puts his money where is mouth is and backs Rafa with loads of cash to sign quality players and do that every season while Rafas here and wins some cups then why not, I’m sure a couple of trophies will cover the 10 or so years he’s been here.
