Newcastle Keen To Sign Top Spanish Striker

Newcastle have been interested in Sandro Ramirez since the summer of 2015 when he was still at Barcelona and after his excellent season at Malaga, there are a number of clubs after him this summer – including Newcastle United.

The lad is only 21 and he’s played for all the Spanish youth sides and 3 times for the U21 side and he looks like a classy young player who can score goals.

He’s had a really good first season at Malaga scoring 16 goals in 30 total games for the club.

21 year-old former Barcelona striker Sandro Ramirez

Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague knows Rafa Benitez very well and he had this to say about the 21 year-old 5ft 9 ins tall striker today:

“Premier League clubs are battling for Sandro Ramirez”  “He is linked to five clubs, three of them in the Premier League,”

“He is a player that has definitely caught the attention of many.”

“Atletico Madrid want him as well so he will see what happens with their transfer ban.”

Malaga coach Michel has admitted it may be hard to hold onto his player this summer:

“Sandro is in demand.” “We cannot keep him if he doesn’t want to continue.”

“We can’t do anything more than all the efforts we have made, and all we have to do is wait for his decision.”

Ramirez was born in Las Palmas in the Canary Isles and played initially for his home-town club UD Las Palmas before joining Barcelona’s youth setup in 2009 at the age of 14.

He played a total of 32 times with 7 goals for the Barcelona first team before moving to Malaga last summer on a three year contract.

He looks like a very good young player who could be an excellent signings for us.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Everton confident they have beaten Tottenham and Sevilla to Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez

Newcastle are understood to have made a late enquiry but it was Sevilla who were pushing hardest to rival Everton’s interest.

A big contract and an opportunity to potentially be Romelu Lukaku’s replacement have convinced Sandro to turn down Champions League football in Seville, while sources close to the forward say he had been assured of “significant” investment in the Everton squad when talks first began.

Come on Rafa, use your persuasive powers to lure him to the toon!

Ryad Boudebouz is free to leave Montpellier for €15m this summer. Everton and Southampton are believed to be frontrunners. #NUFC linked too.

Everton might be a solid side but hardly big time in the shadow of Livetpool. Whereas Rafa , SJP and 52,000 are a much bigger opportunity.

Sébastien Haller to join Eintracht Frankfurt.

Most likely never a target but been linked with us.

A huge upgrade on Gouffran, Ayoze etc. Bring him in, at EUR 6m he’s a snip!

‘Everton are considering a bid for Las Palmas centre-back Mauricio Lemos, 21, as part of a £75m summer outlay also involving Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, 27, plus Burnley defender Keane and striker Andre Gray, 25.’ (Daily Telegraph)

Isn’t that supposed to be the Newcastle blueprint. It could be a long summer unless the club starts getting involved in (and winning) bidding wars.

while i agree we need to start bringing in players asap
most of the leagues still have games to go
i dont expect any movement till the major leagues in Europe finish

Can you imagine Charnley in a bidding war for a player. Imagine the horror of having to pay a little over the odds to get the better of others sides.

beermonkey, I am not expecting movement for contracted players either, unless the transfer window opened already on the quiet.

after the townsend fiasco i think rafa might make the bid an when all sorted charnly fills out the paper work and pays

a bit like most men going shopping with the other half all we are there for is to carry the bags and pay the bill and stand around and look awkward when left in the underwear section
    that is charnleys role now

Very good description, beer. Fits Charnley perfectly.

Hopefully Rafa’s influence will lure this great player to signing for us. Of all the names branded about this player is the one I wish will come to fruition. Having seen more of him recently I can tell he will be a hit. He is a hardworker, teamplayer and mobile attacker that is technically gifted and has a wicked shot in him. Young, strong and shockingly cheap. We should bust a nut to get this guy here. He is just what we need. A couple of players of this ilk and we will be a really exciting team in the prem.

Please Rafa and co make this happen before he signs for Everton or Sevilla.

will we venture into the free market
most that i have seen that i would take are 30 30+ and prob after one last pay day
loans with an option to buy is the way i would go

I think once we get Atsu deal sorted we will start the ball rolling in the transfer market. I see the Atsu deal as Rafa getting adequate cover in the winger positions. He’s an upgrade on Gouffran and we need a couple more wingers so I think the next ones will be of higher quality. Can’t wait for us to start lodging bids to tranfer targets. Wish we could nick Sandro though.

    May 16, 2017 at 10:37 AM

Everton are further down the road in the PL than us.
Koeman has a seasons start on Rafa.
We should not really be going for the same targets.

Everton have qualified for the Europa League this season and will be looking at the CL next.

We are at least 18 months behind them.

Folk on here should learn a bit more about other clubs recruiting problems before slagging off our MD

What do people think on Jay Rodriguez at saints. Could he do a job for us? I’m not sure about him as he’s had trouble with injuries

  • ToonRich
    May 16, 2017 at 10:44 AM

Shire, James would be some signing, and show major intent! But it aint gonna happen is it!!

Jay Rodriguez…I think I’d prefer a fit Sturridge. Both had their fair share of injuries. Both fit I’d take DS tho.

    May 16, 2017 at 10:46 AM

Jib, so what was the excuse for not being in for players like Lukaku when we were not 18 months behind Everton. How is it that Everton were able to make a fist of keeping their best players, even fighting of Man Utd for Baines, etc. Were Everton 18 months ahead of Charnley then?

  • ToonRich
    May 16, 2017 at 10:48 AM

Speaking of Everton, anyne think Barkley would be available? He’s been in and out of the side this season…he could have a starring role with us I think!

    Speculation front
It wouldn’t surprise me that the TOON have already got some signings pre-contracts arranged depending if they had got promotion – just waiting until the regular season ends – and I think the window does not officially open until either June or July 1st – Someone will correct me on the opening of the transfer window.

    May 16, 2017 at 11:05 AM

If i can chip in on thr mooy debate….i think he’s a good player, strong and a good passer and been one the players this season in the championship that’s looked like he can play at a higher level….your thoughts mate?

    May 16, 2017 at 11:07 AM

Cant u sign free agents from june but window doesn’t actually open till july

  • ToonRich
    May 16, 2017 at 11:09 AM

Charlie, that would be great if when the window opens we’ve got 4 or 5 lads lined up on the pitch or at the training ground with their shirt ready to be revealed!! I dont think Charmless is that organised though!

  • hibbit
    May 16, 2017 at 11:14 AM

i just asked Expat the same question
the only game that sticks in my mind with Mooy, Rafa had Jack Colback man mark him and Mooy never really got into the game till Colback came of we beat them 3-1

  • ToonRich
    May 16, 2017 at 11:19 AM

    Anyone else heard this rumour…
“Benitez has been linked with 27-year-old Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez, who has failed to gain a lot of playing time under Claude Puel. He’s also been tipped to make Christian Atsu‘s loan from Chelsea a permanent transfer, and to make a push for Leicester City captain Wes Morgan.”

Why would we want Wes Morgan?!!! Please no!

  • Charlie in the Gallowgate
    May 16, 2017 at 11:24 AM

with RAFA in charge I don’t think he will of let the TOON stand idly by.
Wouldn’t be surprised if some of the so-called signings we had lined up in the January window come in in the summer.

  • Blofal
    May 16, 2017 at 11:27 AM

hibbit Mooy is class. He played for my local club Melbourne City and ran everything from the midfield. We still haven’t recovered from losing him.

Man City (who own Melbourne City) bought him and loaned him to Huddersfield and not only has he got them to the playoffs but he was named in the EFL team of the season.

According to the article we have bid for him. The only problem is Guardiola likes him and he could end up a bench player for City next season.

Whilst I am biased I really do hope we get him. He is a lot like Shelvey but imo can play a little more further forward and always makes the right pass. Rarely ever gives the ball away. There is a reason Huddersfield did so well with him running the show.

bit of local knowledge always helps sounds good looks like he could be a very good addition to the squad .
    fingers crossed

  • ronaldo aarons
    May 16, 2017 at 11:42 AM

Mooy would be a very good addition to the squad as we will finally have someone to compete with Shelvey. Still need something else in midfield, a defensive minded physical type of player and we’ll be sorted.

What’s anyone opinion on nolito? He’s leaving city for only a few million and although he is 30 I think he would be worth considering adding to the squad as we lack left sided players. He started off really well this year but since Christmas he just wasn’t getting game time. Not sure why but I reckon something may have kicked off between him and guardiola. Don’t think his wages are big either since he’s going to betis I think.

    Sorry was in the bath

what was the excuse for not being in for players like Lukaku ?

  • ronaldo aarons

Lukaku? Everton bought him for nearly £30 million. Even with Benitez I don’t believe we would have been in for that.

Chronicle: Benitez believed to want between 7-12 new signings in the summer with a budget between £70-100million, Atsu is just the beginning

  • AncientC
    May 16, 2017 at 12:05 PM

ronaldo aarons, exactly. I was asking why not.

Jib seems to think that Charnley (under Ashley) has changed. All based on future projections which have not happened yet.

Lukaku was subject to interest from multiple clubs and a war would have ensued for his signature. The ‘Mighty’ Everton were obviously too much to go up against, in the quest to sign a lethal striker.

  • Jib
    May 16, 2017 at 12:14 PM

Let me think for a nanosecond.

You and others on here think Charnley’s no good.

Rafa Benitz is on record as saying he is one of the best CEO’s he’s worked with.

Sorry pal , after the nanosecond Rafa gets me vote I’m afraid.

  • Jib

    Benitez even

  • AncientC
    May 16, 2017 at 12:24 PM

Jib, look at the list of clubs that Benitez has worked at, I would take that one with a pinch of salt. What kind of world class MD does not get into bidding wars with other clubs, or gets his club relegated for that matter.

Benitez speaking fondly of Charnley is the equivalent of giving him a pat on the head, so that he can get on with hopefully doing what Benitez asks.

Charnley’s hands have been tied by Ashley, no doubt, so he shouldn’t be shouldering the majority of blame, but he does has a certain amount of control and is complicit in some very bad decisions.

  • AncientC
    May 16, 2017 at 12:26 PM

Anybody would think Ashley had already sanctioned a net spend and great players had been signed. The proof is in the eating… and that pudding is still stale.

Now the lad has a chance to improve and show us what he can do.
