Newcastle Will Now Bid For Top Midfield Target

Rafa Benitez is very keen to bring Fulham’s 26 year-old Tom Cairney to Newcastle this summer and with Fulham losing 1-0 at Reading last night in the second leg of the Championship playoff and being eliminated 2-1 on aggregate, the way is now open for Rafa to make an approach for the Scottish International midfielder.

Cairney has been a star man for Fulham this season and twice played brilliantly against Newcastle, just in case Rafa had any doubts he was good enough for Newcastle.

Tom Cairney – Newcastle target

It would have been more difficult to pry Cairney away from Fulham is they had been promoted this season, but now Newcastle can offer Tom Premier League football next season and Newcastle will likely move in with an offer for the recently capped Scottish International playmaker.

Tom is also said to be keen to pay in the Premier League.

One problem is apparently Fulham now want £20M for him, but Newcastle can make an offer where the transfer fee increases given the number of times he plays in the Newcastle first team over the next few years.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic will be loathe to lose one of his best players, as the impressive Serbian manager will want to challenge for the automatic promotion spots next season, but if he gets a decent fee for Cairney he can also bring in some new players.

We fully expect Newcastle to make a strong move to sign Tom Cairney.

Last season Tom played a total of 51 times for Fulham in all competitions with 13 goals and 12 assists and Rafa Benitez believes he can make the step up to the Premier League with Newcastle.

What do you think?

According to a report in The World Game, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have both submitted offers for Manchester City midfielder Aaron Mooy.

Mooy has been out on loan at Huddersfield Town this season, and the Australian’s performances have been highly impressive.

Mooy has been one of the stand out midfielders in the Championship, and interest is now mounting in him.

OMG have I killed the blog?

Maybe it’s because the WelshWum9 turned up and folk realise that trying to have any further intelligent chat or debate is a futile exercise.

Anyway, gotta go feed me chickens, later all.

If we get mooy and Cairney it would give us far more creativity.
The one thing I forgot when looking at potential signings earlier was pace and power.
We must get strikers and wingers with that or we will be dead in the water.

A well placed pass is faster than any player. Didn’t you watch “Goal”

Anita and gouffran have done a job but never been good enough at premier league level. I will be surprised if rafa keeps them. I’m grateful for the job theybe done though.

I think they might be kept for one more season. There is clearly some deadwood that will go first. Once we sign a keeper sels will be first. I also think Krul as he is too expensive to keep and we have same quality in Darlow and Elliot.

I’d also have Mooy and Cairney, but not behind Gayle. I’d have them behind a proven top goalscorer with pace and movement who can also be a target and hold the ball up and also equally with the addition of a similarly top left winger. I’d cash in on Gayle and keep Mitro as his understudy off the bench and Murphy as a squad player in the final year of his contract.
