Newcastle Star Again Pays Tribute To The Fans

It will be interesting to see if Jamaal Lascelles will be the Newcastle captain next season as Rafa looks to bring in some experienced Premier League players this summer.

If Wes Morgan comes in from Leicester City it could be that Wes is immediately made the Newcastle captain, but we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

Jamaal Lascelles had a good season lat term and made the Championship Team of the Season along with Jonjo Shelvey and Dwight Gayle.

Jamaal Lascelles – Newcastle captain

Then we heard he had been playing injured with a groin problem since  last October, so that must have hampered his performances, but it just  shows how important Rafa rated him in the Newcastle side.

It also shows the commitment Jamaal has to Newcastle United.

And it’s hardly surprising that being captain of the side that won the Championship last season is the high point  of Lascelles’  career – so far.

However, we are hoping in the next few years that Rafa can bring some big trophies to Newcastle and Jamaal should be in the team,  so a lot more seems possible now, with a Newcastle club managed by Rafa Benitez.

This is what Jamaal has said today as reported in the Shields Gazette:

“Hands down, it was the best moment of my career, lifting that trophy,”

“It’s been a tough season, a lot of ups and downs, but that’s football for you. “

“We got the job done. We know we have to work hard for next season, and we’ll sort that out as well.?“

“We’ll chill for a bit and see our families, because it’s been relentless. We’ve trained every day, worked hard, we’ve carried knocks, injuries, so we’ll chill – but we’ll be ready for pre-season.”

“We couldn’t have done it a better way,”  “We played excellent, and then came the late equalizer down at Villa.”

The roar we heard was unbelievable.?“

“I want to say thank you to the fans. They stuck with us all season and I’m glad we could give them back what they deserve.”

It was a fantastic achievement to get automatic promotion from the Championship last season, but now Rafa knows his side must be improved in quality over the summer.

Lee Charnley and Rafa are now working hard to bring in up to eight new players to the squad and it’s going to be an exciting summer for newcastle fans.

As usual we are being linked with a massive number of  players this summer, some of which may even be our targets.

Newcastle United look set to avoid a long haul pre-season tour this summer.

Instead, the Chronicle understands the Magpies are looking at returning to Ireland for a second successive summer.

Last summer Rafa Benitez took his players to Ireland and spent a week at Carton House in County Kildare before playing their opening friendly of the summer in Dublin against Bohemians, a game which United won 6-0.

Offers to play in the Far East and the United States in July were mooted in recent months, but the Magpies first had to ensure they returned to the Premier League before committing to any summer tours or pre-season tournaments.

United are also planning the usual home friendly, potentially against European opponents, and several UK friendly games.

As reported in March on Chroniclelive, Bradford City are thought to be one of the teams interested in taking on Newcastle in a friendly game at Valley Parade.

Like last summer Newcastle – when the Magpies earned a 4-0 win over Sporting Club Lokeren in Belgium – may also make a short hop to Europe.

United fans will learn official confirmation on the club’s summer plans in due course.

Great new look Ed! The links to the previous and next articles are there just below the article and above the comments section guys.

Think we need a new (top quality) LB, CB, CDM, No. 10, LW, ST.

If we get those then our 1st XI is much better and our squad would have more depth.

We need to spend around £100m.

Exciting transfer window ahead – just wish it came quicker!
