There is news in the Chronicle today that Newcastle could return to Ireland for their preseason training camp as Rafa did last summer for what was then a very important upcoming Championship season.
It’s just as difficult a task this coming season, as we prepare to do battle back in the Premier League and it’s not too surprising Rafa doesn’t want to travel far this summer.
Rafa Benitez with Championship trophy
The manager again will have a new team that he wants to gel during the preseason.
The Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle United look like returning to Ireland again for preseason for a second successive summer.
Newcastle were at Dalymount Park in Dublin last summer and the same venue is possible this summer, with Rafa and the club extremely pleased with the facilities last summer.
And Rafa was able to do what he wanted to do – build the team spirit with new players and do a lot of coaching and training with the squad.
Newcastle had some offers to play in the Far East and the United States for July, but it seems Rafa has got his way and they will be off to Ireland with pre-season games arranged with some European clubs, both at home and away, as preparation for the Premier League.
That’s just one of the many jobs Lee Charnley and his staff have to do in what is going to be a very busy summer for Newcastle United and certainly for Rafa too.
It’s clear Rafa wants to concentrate fully on getting his new Premier League side ready for the upcoming season.
Sounds good to us.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t sign that early. I remember we had just started pre season, could be wrong though as it was long ago.

Comment #54yeah mate cabaye was a great signing there’s been a few others aswell, Mr Carr gets some stick on here sometimes and rightly so,but even some of the flops have looked good on paper, riviere for example massive flop for us obviously but he had a great season the year before playing with the lad who went to manue can’t remember his name but he didn’t last long there either

The /\ symbol on the right hand side of the bottom takes you WHOOSH !!! straight to the top”
Whoosh is the same noise my cane makes as it flies through the air headed for your jacksie after your gaffes.

You came up with the solution when all others failed (The /\ symbol on the right hand side of the bottom takes you WHOOSH !!! straight to the top).
You must surely be in line for the Googler of the Year award.
Such determination to assist your fellow but lesser mortals deserves recognition not ridicule.
