Multiple Signings Now Seem Imminent For Newcastle

The news last week for Newcastle in the transfer market was good in that we are reported to have put offers in for several of our top targets and we know Rafa wants his players brought in quickly this summer.

The fact that we got promoted back on Monday April 24th when we took Preston apart 4-1 at home means that Rafa – and especially Lee Charnley – have been working hard since then on transfer business.

21 year-old Angers forward Nicolas Pepe

And we know Lee is a bit of a workaholic and a good negotiator and we therefore expect signings to be announced by Newcastle fairly imminently.

The pre-season training starts five weeks on Monday and Rafa wants most of the transfer business competed by then if that’s at all possible and Lee is well aware of that.

We have already signed Christian Atsu from Chelsea in a £6.2M deal and it looks like the players we are working hard on are some of the following:

  • 21 year-old Angers forward Nicolas Pepe is an Ivory Coast international worth around £8M with Monaco, Marseille and Wolfsburg also in for him,
  • 23 year-old Leganes midfielder Gabriel Pires who has a £6M release clause in his contract with the club and Newcastle have already made a “significant” offer for the player.
  • We are assuming Rafa is in for 25 year-old former winger Andros Townsend from Palace and will bid £13M for him to activate the release clause in his contract.
  • Seems like out top striker target is Burnley’s Andre Gray and Newcastle are in for him (£10M fee?) as an early signing – he would be great at Newcastle under Rafa Benitez.
  • FInally 20 year-old Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on loan but it looks like Brighton & Hove Albion are in the lead for him but its’ still possible we could pip the south coast team.

Rafa can also surprise by signing somebody out of the blue which he did last season a few times.

But next week or sooner we should be seeing players arriving at Newcastle United.

Can’t wait!

There hasn’t been anything recently linking us with Townsend – I’ve got a feeling our interest in him might have cooled. Also I can’t see Palace doing any transfer business until the new manager is in place.

Those players certainly look imminent signings by the looks of it and according to transfer guru Miles Starforth.Won’t complain in any of those except may be Gray, which I didn’t know much..

dont want Abraham like. Talented kid but not proven in the prem like Iheanacho
If we want to loan a Chelsea player, I reckon go for Bertrand Traore. Not premier league proven I know but firing Ajax to Europa final not too shabby

I have given this a lot of thought. With 6 of the top teams, ie man city, Chelsea, Liverpool all playing in either champions league or Europa league which means they will have a lot of games why can’t NUFC take advantage and finish a lot higher in the league. recent history shows when involved in Europe they can struggle in the premier league games.
It’s also interesting to note that the last two teams to win the premier league title, Liecester and Chelsea did not play in Europe.
I would pit Rafa against all the remaining premier league team managers as we all know he is a world class manager.
So. I’m going to put a £10 bet on NUFC to win the title next season, current odds are 750 to 1. Unless anyone on here knows of a bookie giving higher odds.(please gamble responsibley). Before anyone thinks this is an idiot bet, who thought Leicester would win the title. Got to be worth a tenner.

With regards to Deandre gray I’m not sure his views would be welcomed in our city.
We don’t need bigots when we seem to have cleaned our act up and are. Ow doing things properly

I dont think Grey is any better thN Gayle, we need a cross between Gayle and Mitro, Grey is not that, homophobic views arent welcome either, Batchuaiy on loan will do me, Toonsend….meh, not bothered , pepe, pires and Tammy would all improve or develope to improve our team.
