Newcastle have been interested in Anderlecht winger Frank Acheampong for 18 months now and there is news today in Belgium newspaper DH that we are again interested in signing the player this summer.
And by out reckoning that’s the 98th player we have been reported to be interested in signing this summer, before our reentry back into the Premier League.
🙂
The 23 year-old has had a very good season at Anderlecht  and we do expect Rafa Benitez to bring in a couple of new wingers this summer in addition to the already signed Christian Atsu, Frank’s Ghanaian Intentional team-mate.
23 year-old Frank Acheampong – Anderlecht and Ghana winger
He signed for Anderlecht back in April of 2013 from Thailand club Buriram United for a fee of €1M and the winger made his debut for Anderlecht in April of that year against KSC Lokeren.
He has played 165 times for Anderlecht over the last four years with 22 goals and 21 assists.
We were linked with Acheampong last summer and during the previous January and last season he scored 6 goals in 47 total appearances for the current Belgian Champions.
It would be interesting if we do sign Acheampong this summer because then we’ll have two Ghanaian International wingers on our books.
The news in Belgium newspaper DH is that Rafa Benitez is now interested in signing Frank after he has had such a good season for Anderlecht.
Frank has 12 caps for Ghana with 2 goals and made the Ghana squad for the African Cup of Nations held in Gabon earlier this year.
What do you think?

Comment #45Give it 2-3 seasons of investment and “organic “growth in the premier league and we may just get as far as 1/2 or 1/4 finals maybe even a final.
So i reckon by 2020 wel have reached the semi final of a major cup comp (assuming Rafa stays )

Comment #46You’ve got to feel for the Arsenal fans again this season.
Just another FA cup win.
Only the third win in the last four years, and a paltry seven under Wenger. Hardly surprising so many want rid of the guy.

Comment #49I couldn’t believe it when their fans were saying it had been a poor season. They were 5th in the premiership, entry to the Europa League, got to the last 16 of the Champions League and the final of the FA cup (which we now know they won) and they call us deluded!

Comment #52Pleased that the Gunners won the cup.Although i am not a follower.
Hope Wenger tells them to do one now after such a poor season.
I am sick to death of them winning the cup as i have never had that feeling of elation.
Been watching the Toon over 50 yrs and not a lot in the trophy cabinet.
So cruel is this game we love.

Comment #53Arsenal fans are spoiled children, ungrateful and fickle. What they moan about as failure we can only dream about. If I were Wenger I’d quit on the open top bus parade tell the fans to cram it up their cleft and never set foot in London again. If they do a man utd after he leaves they can count themselves lucky.

Comment #55Rolando – fully expect PEA to leave Dortmund for the PL in the close season. See he scored the winner today in the German Cup Final. Bet he joins Klop at Scouserville.

Comment #56I’d rather have Dost, scoring 4-5 goals fewer per season, costing £49-50m less, costing £120k per week less and giving us a target man for Shelvey and Ritchie to hit from all over the pitch.
I think he’d combine exceptionally well with Gayle and pretty much guarantee 18-20 goals, probably contributing 8-10 assists for Gayle to boot.
What do you guys think?
As for the gooners. Never mind the annual top 4 finish, Champions League qualifications and the cups they’ve won. They’ve seen some truly beautiful football played under Wenger.
They’ll realise just how much he has given them when he’s gone and they get replaced by Rafa’s Black & White dream team.

Don’t really understand your message there bud.
I wasn’t trying to have a dig at Ed, just think the headlines of the stories can be fairly misleading.
But your right if I don’t like it I can go elsewhere

I was trying, in a cack-handed way to suggest that there’s little concrete news in football at the moment and this Blog’s no different to any other. But in Ed’s case, he’s posting blogs because he lives and breathes Newcastle United

The Allman’s were a helluva band and Gregg’s demise calls for a listen to Brothers and Sisters. Bless him….. and of course, Duane. RIP
