Fans React To Imminent Loan Signing Of Tammy Abraham

Newcastle are close to sealing the deal on a season long loan for 19 year-old Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

But there will be no option or obligation to buy in the loan contract and Tammy will return to Chelsea next year where he is very highly rated.

So it will be just one year at Newcastle and Tammy’s future seems to be with Chelsea.

But think of it this way – it saves Newcastle a lot of money this summer, so we can wait until next year to bring in another striker.

19 year-old Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham

However, we still expect Rafa to bring in one more striker this summer – in addition to Tammy.

It will cost Newcastle £1.25M in wages plus maybe a £2M loan fee so Tammy’s cheap at the price given what he can do for us next season.

There were various reaction from Newcastle fans to the imminent signing.

Ah yes, the.Mail. How could anyone not applaud its impartiality. Along with Sky, Fox,The Times Express and of course the Telegraph, we are blessed with an abundance of objective media.

Without them, how could voters decide who is strong, stable and determined to right the wrongs that exist in this great land of ours. Even the Beeb’s trying to emulate them!

Oh, and their footy coverage is spot on.

I’m more than happy with Rafa playing Moneyball with us. If that means we loan in a few players here and there, pick up a few bargains and splurge big on one or two players so be it. My hope is, and I trust in Rafa, he is building something. Showing youngsters like Tammy, “Look, you’re young, you’re talented but you’re at a big club who pay tens of millions for superstar players, you’ll disapear there but come here and you’ll get game time in the biggest sporting league in the world in front of 50,000 fans every other week. We can bring you on, and you can become one of those superstars” – I have no problem being one of those clubs for a couple of years until players start to see how big a club we can be.

Mate we will certainly sign another striker and tbh Id have Tammy ahead of Mitro better striker

As for him sitting on the bench how do u know he will? He may out perform all our other strikers and end up starting more than not or we may have a injury crisis and need him for periods of time…hes a good striker for making a competitive squad atm for me we have Gayle Rafa apparently wants 2 strikers and Id be happy with Abraham being one of them

Can’t see how anyone isn’t pleased if this comes off. We’ve got a great back up striker without breaking the bank, leaving funds for elsewhere. There’s only a certain amount of money available until the premier league money comes back in. We need to be smart with our signings.

I feel underwhelmed if this is true.

We have a talented forward of our own in Armstrong who I would rsther see develop rather than helping opposition clubs with their loanees.

Being a crucial position, I would rather a premiership or similar striker than an untried kid that doesnt even belong to us.

Whatevef happened to only signing premiership quality players?

Would be better if we had an option to buy. If he does well, keep. If not, thanks.

Together with mitrovic they’d be a useful force, though I suspect Rafa won’t play two up front, so maybe he considers the CF job done.

    Giroud would’ve shown serious intent.

It’s just the start, we await.

Anyway, I asked for this player quite early in the season, Rafa gracefully obliged, so can’t complain 🙂

He’s very good, will make a difference.

Not sold on giroud at 22m….always looks half arsed….he scores goals aye but arsenal create a lot of chances…and tbh would he want to come to us…not likely… probably paper flanel anyway like most stories at the minute.

I guess we disagree on that player’s quality. For me, he’s world class. Don’t tell arsenal but I’d pay more.
Even when Wenger decided he was not the main man, he went ahead and got his goal as a sub. Can make a chance out of nowhere.
On your question; I hope Gayle isn’t our main striker, despite his excellent season, and hats off for that.

He will love it at NUFC, so much so he won’t want to go back, when our sky money comes in at the end of the season, Rafa will sign him. It’s a cunning plan by the great man himself. Can see him and Armstrong working well together. Now that’s got to be worth waiting for.

If it is true about Abrahams I think it is not a bad acquisition at all.

As for Armstrong – he did not do the business last year so he can expect to get loaned out again.

    Got you there 🙂

That was a little dig, upping mitrovic. You may be right, may be wrong. I honestly think it’s in the balance.

He’s probably better than you think and worse than I think 😉

So we need a giroud level Hitman to lead the line.

Much as I like Gayle, he won’t burn this league.

I think Abraham will become a very good striker, he needs to improve his link up play but he’s big and has pace, has all the attributes to be a lukaku type striker if he bulks up a bit. Gayle seems to have an ongoing hamstring problem, and with murphy leaving and potentially mitro, it makes sense to bring in abraham and one other striker, preferably proven in the PL, Iheanacho, Gray, King or Batshuayi please.

Semedo is worth twenty plus and Giroud isn’t? Apples and oranges yes, but free scoring CFs are the rarest fruit.

We need to shell out big money on a permanent CF, or unearth gem like Tammy, whom we’ll actually buy.

Mitro has potential but not the intelligence to reach it, lad had the perfect chance to cement himself last season and….nothing. We need money to build and he’ll still fetch 8-12 mill Id imagine

I dont think Gayle will be as prolific in the PL but he can score goals and his movement/work rate is very good plus he has a decent return in the PL for Palace considering how little he was played I wouldnt write him off

Abraham for me is a good loan deal, young ,hungry and he is probably a year or 2 ahead of Armstrong in his development so won’t stifle him coming through as Tammy goes back ar the end of the season.
A little off topic, not sure if it’s been discussed about the pace of Kevin Mbabu, he’s only second fastest (behind Gareth Bale) player in the world this season in a competitive game, he’s due to come back at the end of this weekend when Young boys season ends, so, knowing Rafa wants pace in the side, does anyone think he could cover (or even replace as no1 )both Dummet and Yedlin as full backs, he has pace obviously, he can tackle ,has also shown he can cut it vs top tier teams and he’s already our player…..for me , I would keep him ,he’s a flyer, and , even though he’s a righty he can cover both sides (better on the right) it would also free up cash for a proper no10 to compete/replace Dejong or a proper Dm to replace/compete with Hayden.
I just wish we were in the throws of the transfer window so at least something was happening, all this crazy name dropping by agents and media does my Napper in.
Roll on the 16th June so we can see who we’re playing on the first game of the season…..I’m going for either Chelsea or Man Citeh away…….then we can see when the derby is going to be……oh wait……..can we class Huddersfield as a derby,…….no…..no we can’t

    Think of it this way.
Rafa is at the front of the queue to sign up some younger, athletic prospects with pace.
Get these lads in quickly and it shows that we have aspirations to build a dynamic team. Beet the opposition to the draw so to speak.
Meanwhile over at Gotham City….well SJP more complex and financially demanding negotiations are in place for a number of key experienced players who will add the steel to the youngsters around them. They will join when they see the bigger picture developing.
If you build it they will come.

1st thought was if theres no option to buy why should we make our rivals players better.

After thinking a while im kinda coming round to the idea..

Would still prefer armstrong to be brought through as hes ours.

One more year as a stepping stone for some players may not be a bad thing .

@Jamestoon as he is the only poster on here who really gets it

Our business with around 12-15 players leaving should be the below (principles of what that position should bring to the team)

Maguire or Gibson – Old Fashioned centre back who knows the league
Semudo or Mangala – Pace and strength
Gibbs, Robertson or Tierney – Quick attacking full back who can recover

Carvalho – Be a beast in the middle next to Hayden and be our equivalent of Spurs mids

Townsend – Can go past players and score goals
Sarr – If he is half as good/similar to Mane he is worth a risk

Abraham – Great loan signing, don’t understand people on here not wanting loans if it is not to buy at the end, when you are new to a league, we can’t expect to buy the best straight away, need to build in the right way
Batashuayi or Ihneanacho – Pace, know where the goal is and ideal “Marquee” signing

If we are going to add value to a young player why would we not want him to belong to us ??

It has stepping stone written all over it

Abraham will go on to be an England regular, under the Keegan and Robson era we would of had the “clout” to sign him, im afraid under Ashley with 2 relegations and circus type behaviour….we have fallen behind last seasons top 6 and clubs like Everton, West Ham and are going to battling the likes of Stoke and West Brom (sad as that is).

Therefore signing Abraham on loan who is head and shoulders better than Armstrong and what I have seen better than Mitrovic, makes sense to get a loan deal and hopefully he is fighting Gayle and a £25m+ striker signing for a starting berth

This is just indicative of the plan Rafa will have put to Ashley for the future.
Get one or two top class loan purchases in to cover what’s needed and then spend the serious money on the key positions – central defender and attacking midfielder and winger.
The following season remove the loan men and replace them with the available cash for permanent buys.
Ad infinitum. That’s how the team and squad will grow,
    Not daft our Gaffer.

I’ve seen arma score a couple of crackers, but the season just finished :

Arma 6 goals in a poor team and
Abraham 26 goals in a poor team.

Maybe Rafa is hoping TA will fall in love with the place as Atsu did.

A natural goalscorer is a premium and this seems a very good deal.
I have no faith in Mitro whatsoever to suddenly become a lethal scorer
that this kid seems to be.

Shame no Reina, but hopeful on Semedo and Sarr.

Atsu wasn’t ours last season. Didn’t hear many complaints then.
If Abraham does the business this season what’s not to like? Even if we won’t be able to buy him who says that he won’t be replaced with something more permanent – and better – the following season?
This building has to be gradual.
