Arsenal Spanish Winger Could Be Good Acquisition For Benitez

There is going to be a big clear-out at Arsenal this summer and Newcastle could benefit by taking one or two of their players.

And we wonder if Rafa Benitez will be interested in one player who will be available and wants to leave the Gunners this summer after only one year at the club – 29 year-old Spanish winger Lucas Perez.

Even through Perez got little playing time under Wenger last season he had a decent run of 7 goals and 5 assists in only 21 appearances for the club in all competitions and those were mostly as a substitute.

It’s difficult to know if Rafa rates his Spanish counterpart and he will not come cheap since Arsenal paid £17M for him from Deportivo La Coruna last summer and it seems they are willing to sell him for £13M this summer.

Perez has a great left foot and can score goals, which is what Rafa Benitez is looking for next season – more goals from his midfield.

Perez has already told Arsenal he wants to leave the club according to his agent and there is interest from various Premier League clubs such as West Ham as one example.

His agent is Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle and this is what he has said about his client:

“The idea is to be able to play for another club.” “We want to leave and Arsenal already know.”

“Do you know anyone who is happy but has no opportunities?”

Perez looks a good player who for whatever reason wasn’t given a chance but whether Benitez thinks he is worth £13M is another question and Rafa seems to be looking at getting some younger and cheaper alternatives for the wing positions this summer.

But Perez could be a very good buy – even at £13M.

What do you think?

Would be a great buy. We are so desperate for a no10 as if we start with Diame or Perez in that position I will cry. It’s the most important position on the field for me that needs to be the highest priority.

Mitro will play plenty. I think he’ll figure behind a big signing to start up top, but ahead of Abrahams if he signs. I think Gayle is vulnerable.

I can’t see how people can rate him a player of his age/development should be ripping the championship up. Even his hold up play was poor and Murphy was much better at linking up for the team yet he scored the odd goal unlike mitro who never looked threatening at all.

Priority signings must be a #10 with the ability to dictate play and a central midfielder with good defensive ability. All other transfer targets are supplementary.

I’ve loved and played and watched the game for 45 years, and Mitro isn’t shocking. He’s young, and he’ll play.

It will be interesting to see who Rafa brings in, I’m not sure why so many want to hang on to Mitrovic? Aren’t striker’s to be able to score? He was useless last time we were in the premier league and was a average player in the championship.
Personally I think the money from his sale could be useful on a far better replacement.

The nearest comparison to Mitro is Costa who attempts to bully and physically challenge central defenders. However they do not compare in their number of goals, hold up play, assists etc

Miitrovic does score goals. His goals and assists to minutes is very good. He is exactly the player we thought we were buying. You’ve got to give him time to grow into the role. If it isn’t for us, it will be for someone else, and we’ll have missed out.

Can’t understand why some people say his hold up play was aweful. There were games when Gayle wasn’t the right man to lead the attack against a solid defense who sits back because he simply isn’t the kind of player to receive the ball with his back to goal.

Granted, Mitro has a lot of work to do on his finishing, but he’s added that extra something upfront when he’s come on in the last 15 minutes. He’s CLEARLY shown that he can do it at international level and whatever it is holding him back at club level has to be resolved, because anyone who can’t see that we have something raw in him to work with lacks foresight and is only looking for a quick fix, something we will find it hard to compete for this early in our PL campaign.
