While we were hoping the Tammy Abraham loan deal was very much in Newcastle’s favor, there’s a worrying report in the Telegraph today that the 19 year-old will delay his decision until he has talked to Brighton manager Chris Hughton, who is also keen to sign the striker on loan.
It had been hoped that after Rafa Benitez had talked to the player earlier this week at St. George’s Park, he would sign along the dotted line.
19 year-old Tammy Abraham – may prefer playing closer to home at Brighton
But it seems the Chelsea striker may even fancy playing for Brighton & Hove Albion next season for a couple of reasons:
- He will get more playing time at Brighton where he will definitely be the number one striker while that’s not true at Newcastle
- He lives in Surrey and would be a lot closer to his family if he did spend the season on the south coast.
It just goes to show you that nothing is final until it’s final – or as Yogi Berra would put it – it aint over till it’s over.
So Tammy has still to make a final decision on his loan deal, but it’s between Brighton and Newcastle with Brighton initially being the club expected to sign Tammy until Newcastle moved in earlier this week.
If Tammy decides on Brighton it’s because of the location of Newcastle up in the north-east, but we cannot do much about that now – can we?
We are still hoping Tammy will sign for Newcastle on that season long loan deal, but if he doesn’t then Rafa and Lee Charnley will still need to bring two strikers in – with one possibly on loan.
What do you think?

Then I’m down with that bud.
As much as Abraham may or may not become a top player.Working under Rafa may make him into a better player. We may make ties for any future transfer hope…. He is only gonna be a 3rd or 4th choice forward at the club.
If Abraham is gonna be anything more than that in our first season back in the Pl… we gonna be in a whole word of pain come next summer

But Abraham is a lot better than Armstrong so why would u not want the best possible players in our squad?

But no one has said that Abraham is the only striker coming in quite the opposite in fact…i really do get the negativity towards him tbh if he joins right now he’d be at worst pushing Gayle for a start which didn’t happen last season

I rate the player just hate the loan system as it used.

Mate loans exist so why handicap ourselves? And plenty of players go out on loan as not for sale then get sold especially at Chelsea
Every penny we save on a back up/rotation striker goes towards a first choice one or a first choice in another spit

Comment #51Exactly my point. I’m sure we will bring in another Forward who will give Gayle a run for his money. Then that leaves Mitro and Abraham, No more than an Upgrade on Murphy.
There is no negativity towards Abraham from me .Just the fact I dont see what we will really get out of the deal

I wouldn’t blame the kid either if it means he will experience the Pl on the pitch rather being a bench warmer for us.
Let’s not forget he has no affiliation to the club like we do , So doesn’t have that attachment.
He will be solely at what’s gonna be more productive towards his career, And surely playing week in week out is better than sitting on the bench week in week out.
If Brighton only offer the same deal as Nufc, Then Nufc will surely be the winners in that outcome

Comment #54Its a disgrace that we dont have players coming through our club that can make the bench.
We are newcastle united
I hope rafas control of all football allows us to never need to blood another clubs talent even more so when its a club we are in the same leauge.

Pretty sure Abraham will be looking to get starts mate and he proved last season he can score goals. We get a good hungry striker who can score goals to add to the squad for a season. Murphy’s sure to leave and Mitro is likely to follow so we need players
Shire
But there’s a reason they’d be plan B and we’ve always had a plan B mate just most of the time we went for plan F instead

Mate Rafa must think he can score goals or we wouldn’t be after him
He scored a lot of goals in a tough league for a poor team at 18/19…most would of been happy with getting that kind of record in when we were an established PL team

In a perfect world mate.
Our problem is that the west is too civilised and these morons know this. In their own minds, they can go to Valhalla or equivalent with tge 72 virgins they were unable to get in reality.
Never mind imprisoning them, take them out the back, cut off their balls, let them know they will be of no use to their 72 virgins in the afterlife now.

Comment #79It seems to me there is someting not right somewere here. Why would Rafa go to london to be told let me speak to Brighton with 20.000 fans at home games .. If he is not commited to Newcastle then he can go somewere else. we need players to come for The Club and the fans ..
