Newcastle United are being linked with 26 year-old Dutch left back Marvin Zeegelaar, who made his move to Sporting Lisbon only last summer from Rio Ave.
The player started his career at his home town club Ajax and came through the ranks there.
Zeegelaar was continually linked in the January transfer window with a move to Championship side Norwich City but the move didn’t happen.

The fee had been agreed at €3.5M and on January 25th he was supposed to be on his way to Carrow Road to sign for Norwich, but the deal was called off when the player and club couldn’t reach an agreement on wages.
The other reason he didn’t sign was that he didn’t feel that Norwich had a good enough chance of being promoted last season straight back to the Premier League – and he was right about that with Norwich failing to reach the playoffs.
The Record outlet in Portugal are reporting that Newcastle are ‘evaluating’ the situation with relegated former Premier League club Hull City also said to be interested in the player.
Sporting want €5M for their player now and Newcastle could get the deal done for that amount which is around £4.3M, and the player is reported to be very keen to make a move to the Premier League.
Marvin Zeegelaar is available for transfer this summer after he had trouble forcing himself into the Sporting first team last season but we’d be surprised if Newcastle are really interested in buying this player.
