Newcastle Hope To Sign These Three Players This Week

It was reported yesterday in the Mirror that Rafa Benitez was frustrated Newcastle hadn’t signed more players by now.

We have signed Christian Atsu for £6.2M from Chelsea following his successful loan spell, but he knows he needs to continue to improve and become more consistent and hopefully score more goals for us.

But he’s a good player and has an excellent temperament and character and is already popular with the fans.

26 year-old center-back Florian Lejeune of Eibar

There has been news last week and over the weekend we are close to signing at least three players.

It looks like we have agreed the €10M (£8.4) release clause in Florian Lejeune’s contract at Eibar and we are expecting that deal has to be very close to being sealed.

In addition it looks like Newcastle are now in the driver’s seat for the impressive Sporting Lisbon 23 year-old center-back Ruben Semedo.

The news yesterday is that the deal should be completed this week with there seeing to be agreement on a low €14M (£12.1M) fee.

Sporting are keen to get the deal done before Rubin is off to the U-21 European Championships in Poland on June 16th.

So there are the two center-backs Rafa wanted but neither has any Premier League experience, which is
a little strange.

And finally it seems we are in the lead to sign Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs, even though the fee looks a fairly hefty £15M, given he has just one year left on his contract.

But that has not put Rafa off who must rate the 10 times capped 27 year-old England International left-back.

So right at the start of this week – exactly four weeks before pre-season training starts – those three good players look to be the closest to be signed.

We hope that Lee Charnley and his team can push all three deals through before next weekend.

If Newcastle can do that we will be off to a good start this summer in the transfer window.

That would be three players for around £35M – all back four players.

What do you think?

The mirror are obviously talking bollocks. Pre season training starts in July so he’s hardly gonna be spitting feathers about the lack of signings in the first week of June.

Out of the three mentioned Lejeune seems to be the best value for money. He has had an impressive campain with Eibar and brings both physical strength and technical ability to his game. Semedo altso looks really promising but Im not sure if he is the finished article yet. 15 million for an injury prone Gibbs sounds crazy!! At vb we have a safe alternative in Dummet so why not enquire for Jetro Willems who seems available?

The players are either on international duty or flip-flopping around the beaches abroad!

Nufc made the same mistake the last time they were in the pl . Buying players with a potential sell on value rather than players who will help the team. What has happened to the mantra of buying British or Pl hardened players? Did we not learn from the cabella, reviere, and thauvin deals? Somebody is taking a big big risk. Maybe Mr Carr still is top dog? We need a team of grafters with quality not overseas imports that don’t understand the league or speak english were domed if we go down this road .

Most of these links will be blorrocks, nothing, other than Atsu has been completed, we just have to wait and see, trust in the new process and believe the manager has the best interests of the club and fans at heart, Rafa will not undersell himself and therefore will bring in who he thinks will improve the team, Atsu has premier league experience, as does Shelvey, Ritchie, Dummet, Yedlin, Perez, Mitro, GayleHayden, Diame, Darrow, Elliot, Krul, Clark, Mbemba, Lascelles, …….it’s not prem league experience were short of, its premier league quality……you can have the quality to play in the premier league without the experience, the experience comes through playing in the premier league.
Nobody is born a premier league player, many players earn their stripes in different leagues, the ones who make it in the premier league are imho, the ones who are quality outside the prem and are bought in to do a specific job …….Rafa has shown he can do this with players, molds them into what he needs, coaches them into better than they were if they do as they’re told.
He can do the same here, and has already started …….
