Newcastle Reported To Be Moving Aggressively For Defensive Target

Newcastle seem to be moving aggressively to get Eibar center-back Florian Lejeune tied up after we missed out on our other center-back target Ruben Semedo earlier this week, when he preferred to move to Spanish club Villareal, which ironically is one of Rafa’s former clubs.

Lee Ryder, the Chronicle chief sports writer is tweeting this morning that Newcastle are moving quickly for Lejeune and the Eibar Sporting Director Fran Garagarza is not too certain he can keep the player.

26 year-old Eibar center-back Florian Lejeune

The news is that Florian is keen to come to Newcastle, but we also know that Arsenal have entered the fray so it’s obvious we are trying to get the deal closed quickly, after we lost Semedo to Villarreal in what seemed a very late move from the Spanish side.

Here’s the two positive tweets from Lee Ryder today.

It’s very important we don’t miss out on Lejeune and it would give Newcastle some much needed momentum in this transfer window if we can get this lad signed up quickly.

Newcastle have triggered the release clause of €10M (£8.7M) in his Eibar contract.

Maybe this will make some people a bit more optimistic.

It is nice to see early action, but there is still heeps of time for signings.

This guy looks like a typical Rafa defender no nonsense and just defends !

Semedo may have been a target but I think he takes too many risks a bit like Mbemba !

Maybe also Hanley not being sold has halted us getting a player in?

Like the look of him, highly rated, tall strong at the back thats what we need.

Wonder how this affects Lascelles as captain? Will he be able to make the step up to prem standard and retain captaincy?

Is Legeune French? I’m big fan of French league, French players and French mgrs.
Expect few surprise incomings from that league by the end of the month.Probably Nicholas Pepe and some from Nice Fc.
Although he’s unknown quantity as well ,
    Like Florian Leugene..

We need few players from top clubs.. Players who are used of winning, with a right mentality.. Not some cheap players from clubs from bottom of the league..

Once again driving me nuts, here’s the thing. If you really think this player or any other player out there are 100% the best option for Newcastle United now and for the future, just do what its seems every other club is doing. Make them an offer they cannot refuse, come on have we not learnt anything from past shitty transfer windows. So board trust RAFA and get your lazy ass’s working at 100% to get these players over the line and standing with our shirt.

Just been reading elsewhere that this lad has a shocking record for yellow and red cards , not a very good sign TBH.. Think the pace of Prem might be a bit much for him.. Only time will tell..
