Newcastle Lodge Bid In Effort To Beat Arsenal To This Young Striker

It seems that Newcastle are making a strong move for Arsenal target Henry Onyekuru and there’s an exclusive  report we have put in an offer that’s reported to include offering the 20 year-old £36K/week wages.

Onyekuru currently plays for Belgium second division club KAS Eupen, but has had two good seasons there and he has already been capped once by the Nigerian National side.

Arsenal have been speaking with the player and Henry has talked highly of the Gunners and his hero Thierry Henry very highly, but the youngster also wants to play first team football and he will get a better chance of doing that at Newcastle than at Arsenal.

20 year-old Henry Onyekuru – Newcastle make bid?

He has already made is clear he could reject offers from big clubs if there’s no chance of him playing in the first team there.

Newcastle and the Gunners are both willing to pay the KAS Eupen striker’s £6.8M release clause in his contract, so the fee is not a problem.

And there’s an exclusive from Score Nigeria  today that Newcastle have come in and offered the 20 year old £36K/week to join the Magpies.

Onyekuru scored a good 24 goals and 9 assists in 41 appearances for Belgian club Eupen last season and still has three years left on his current deal.

In total he has made 60 appearances with 30 goals and 11 assists in his two seasons at Eupen and that’s a good return.

West Ham and Anderlecht are also said to be linked with the striker, but it appears the Gunners and the Magpies are in the lead to sign the youngster.

Henry made his International debut for Nigeria in a 3-0 friendly win over Togo on June 1st.

There have been reports in the last few days that Arsenal are close to lodging a bid, but it looks like Newcastle have already stolen a march on the north London club, if the report in Score Nigeria is accurate.

What do you think?

A massive risk if this link has any truth about it.
Along with Abrahams , We would have 2 lads who have bright futures ahead of them, But are not proven in the Pl. Which is what Rafa said he wanted

‘The Mag’ have an article up reporting that Charnley has spoken in public about Mitrovic.

    Lee Charnley speaking to Fotomac:

“We are talking about an excellent player who is only 22 years old.

“But we are talking about a team that will be playing Champions League football next season.

“It would be tough for him to refuse but we will see what happens.”

Strange that Benitez has not been quoted sounding like he was putting Mitrovic in the shop window. Benitez is supposed to be in charge of that type of thing. Contemptuous from Charnley, if the quotes are indeed true. There is absolutely no need for Charnley to be speaking to the media at all considering it is his default mode – unless a particular statement full of the usual platitudes is needed of course.

Maybe penfold has been challenged to float the idea of Mitrovic going to see if there are any bites, Champions league football in an easier league with more playing time and probably a pay rise for him, our money back and a sell on % and getting a player Rafa doesent seem to trust off the wage bill for us.
Seems like this may happen, i dont care either way, if he goes ,so be it ,if e stays thats ok too.
If we do get Tammy and Henry , as well as Gayle that could be some front 3, Ritchie just behind with Shelvey and Hayden as a DM, we would need a bit more pace in CD but it could work , that team would cause all kinds of problems for defences in any league, im not sure about defensively for us though.

There may not be anything in it, but when you have Benitez publicly stating he wants to keep Mitrovic, then the MD a few months later putting him in the shop window, something doesn’t seem right.

If Benitez does not come out signing from the same hymn sheet soon, one of them is going to end up looking like a mug.

Mbemba hasn’t put up for sale, happy for that.Think Rafa saw his potential.Would have been a mistake to let him go without cracking out his abilities further. Can play defensive midfield, right back and center back.Which is exactly what is needed.Lejuene is coming to replace Hanley.W/h is definitely an upgrade than downgrade. He might be the reason Eibar had a good season.Plus if it is true that Arsenal are really interested, he must’ve something better than others.
    Should be welcomed.

How is this guy too big a risk for us at £6.8m. The lads got serious talent and has top clubs looking at him never mind our newly promoted club. I doubt he would sign for us anyway with the other clubs that hes been linked with but if we had the chance we would probably regret not taking it.

How is a young Belgian second division player not a risk? Hes one for the future for big clubs (hence his quotes saying he wants to play football not be benched or go out on loan) and we need players for now. We bought two stars of the top flight in Belgian over the past 2 years and both have flopped

Using my Dennis Wise scouting techniques this player looks to play an attacking wide left role. We do not have any players in our team who have what this lad has which is Pace and great dribbling. We are desperate for players who love to take their man on and have a very direct pacy approach. I would love it if we can get him through the door and then focus on a really creative Cam/Cf. I really rate Ayoze but he needs more time to develop and I see him as a striker more than a creative player. I will be gutted if we start the season with Diame in the no10 role.

The lad may be one for the future I totally agree. But the top clubs ain’t gonna use him as there first choice forward. And this is something we desperately need for here and now.

If we had the luxury of being able to bring him through the ranks then yeah go for him, But to have a player from the Belgian 2nd division to spearhead our Premiership attack next season…. No thanks

Do your own research on him before saying hes a massive risk, hes a very attack minded winger not an out and out striker so Rafa will still bring someone in to spearhead the attack. £6.8m wouldnt even buy us an average Championship winger or a youth team player from one of the top clubs nowadays. I remember when we thought paying £14m each for Lacazette and Aubameyang a few years back was too risky and look where that got us. NUFC-83 is bang on in what he’s saying aswell.

If we manage to sign this lad it will be a grrat signing. He obviously won’t play as striker and have us all depend on his goals to save us. He will more likely play on the wings. Maybe he won’t play much at first untill he adapts but when he does play regularly I reckon he will be a star, and for a measly £6.8m that is a far safer bet than we have taken before with oir past flops. He has loads of pace and loves to beat his man, how many of those playees have we got now? We need players of his ilk and this cheap with this much promise as he’s so young is very hard to find.

Snap him up Rafa! Then go for Boudebouz as well!

Of coure everyone is entitled to an opinion but who do you suggest we could get for this price? Btw Leicester took a huge risk and signed someone called Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood in the Conference as an unproven 25 year old, sometimes risks are actually touches of genius if you have the long term vision to do it.

He does look like Sammy in that pic. A short back-and-sides with a rooster style spike left on the top… he would be nearly there. Now he just needs to find the polaroids the Ameobis have been using to blackmail the club with.

I don’t think we have the luxury of signing players that may or may not be a first 11 player.
Signing players that turn out to be no more than squad players has ultimately lead to our downfall and struggles over the last 3-4-5 year and maybe more.
Yeah some cheap imports have proven a success with the likes of Cabaye. But I would say we have had more failures than success stories in the transfer market since The Ashley era.
Hopefully Rafa will start putting this right

Understandable points definately lads but I still think we need players like this kid. In 2017 £6.8m is nothing for a rich prem club and at 20 years old and a full international his sell on valuation is only going to rise which would then put him out of reach for a penny pinching club like us. If you dont want cheap imports I suppose we could always spend £12m on someone like Tom Ince or £35m on Bolasie etc instead. Judging him on the league he’s playing in and not his actual ability I think

He was a kid when a clueless manager signed him.. I don’t know.. It’s up to rafa.. But he does offer way more than goufrann..

Good luck with that one then. Kid would probably cost us £20m+ in 2 years at this rate. Kid would walk into our starting 11 that needed an average little Brighton squad to flop massively at the last hurdle to win the Championship. We are going to be one of the favourites for relegation this season unfortunately so god knows who your suggesting we sign but we’ll see. I doubt the lad would consider us anyway. Boudabouz would be nice but isnt he a ‘huge risk’, you know being a foreign import and all that.

I’d take Jesse Rodriguez.Seems to have potential and speed.A bit disappointing was loaned out to lower team in Spain last season.I liked Boudebouz since his Sochaux times.Still a good player but 13m is a bit overpriced. But hey ho, It’s Ashley’s money after all.

Newcastle United have finally announced the departure of French winger Florian Thauvin .

The man the Magpies paid £15million for from Marseille in 2015 failed to live up to his potential, but after two successful loan spells with the former European Cup winners, Thauvin has completed a permanent move to the south of France.
