Newcastle Fans React To Magnificent Woodman Display In England’s U20 World Cup Win

Newcastle fans quickly took to twitter after England had beaten Venezuela 1-0 in the U20 World Cup final which was shown on TV live around the world.

Freddie pout in a great second half performance after England had gone ahead 1-00 after a goal from Everton’s Dominic Calvert Lewin after 35 minutes but Venezuela came storming back in the second half.

Freddie was the England hero with several fine saves that included a simply brilliant  penalty save from the 20 year-old with only 15 minutes to go.

Newcastle’s Freddie Woodman makes great one-on-one save in second half today

Freddie will be loaned out to a Championship club for next season and hopefully he will get lots of first team games as he builds towards being the future Newcastle number one goalkeeper, which could be in one or two years time.

He looks an outstanding young prospect but Newcastle fans have known that about Freddie for some time now.

And let’s not forget local lad Adam Armstrong who also played a big part in getting England to the final.

Let both lads know we are proud of them.

Here are some typical tweets from the Newcastle faithful.

Newcastle forward Daryl Murphy has revealed that manager Rafael Benitez is preparing to spend big in the transfer window.
The 34-year-old has explained that he was told he is likely to be moved on from St James’ Park in the summer, despite still having one year remaining on his contract.
He is not set to feature in the Magpies plans as they prepare for their return to the top flight.
Murphy admitted that Newcastle will look to sell him this summer and that is down to the big-money signings that Benitez is expected to bring in.

“I spoke to him [Benitez] last week and he said, ‘It is going to be hard for you to play next year. We are going to listen to a few offers’,” Murphy said, as quoted by the Sun. “The way the club wants to go forward and the money he is going to get to spend on players, I always knew that was going to be the case.”
Newcastle fans will be delighted by the transfer revelation and will hop to see a number of top quality signings arrive at the north-east club.
Benitez took a similar approach last summer following their relegation to the Championship, recruiting the likes of Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie to help fire them to the league title.
The experienced Spanish boss is now tasked with keep his side in the top flight next year and several new faces may be arriving.

Newcastle do have a squad full of experienced Premier League players, something that fellow promoted teams Brighton and Huddersfield do lack.
In other Newcastle transfer news, a report has named the six positions that Benitez is looking to strengthen this summer.

Newcastle look set to completely change their options in defence as the club could sell all three of their recognised left-backs, according to the Chronicle.
The newspaper report on their website that the Magpies are looking to offload French full-back Massadio Haidara and versatile wing-back Achraf Lazaar this summer.
In addition, the Chroncile also claim that first choice left-back Paul Dummett could possibly leave the club, with Premier League rivals Stoke, Crystal Palace and West Brom said to be interested in securing a deal for the 25-year-old.
There is reported interested from France for Haidara, who has been at the club since 2013, while Lazaar is interested in a move to Spain or back to Italy, after arriving at St James’ Park from Palermo in the summer of 2016.
However, the report also says that the club would not be willing to let Welsh international Dummett depart St James’ Park before a replacement is brought in.
One potential replacement is Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs, with Rafael Benitez’s side named as firm favourites by bookies Ladbrokes to secure his signing.
However, the Evening Standard say the Magpies expect the Gunners to lower their £15 million asking price for the 27-year-old.
Manager Benitez has a reported £70 million transfer budget from owner Mike Ashley this summer, with funds from player sales increasing this accordingly.

That Lewis Baker could be the number 10 we are looking for. I wonder how much he’d cost.
