Mitrovic Talks About The Possibility Of Leaving Newcastle This Summer

Aleksandar Mitrovic seems to have no difficulty in scoring goals for his country and his latest goal gave Serbia a 1-1 draw against Wales on Sunday in Belgrade.

Serbia now have 12 points from their six qualifying games and are top of Group D with the Republic of Ireland second on the same number of points and Wales are third on 8 points.

Mitro has been interviewed after the game and was asked about his  situation with Newcastle, where there have been rumors that if Rafa can get back the £14M back we paid to Anderlecht for him two years he could sell the striker this summer.

The 22 year-old seemed very matter-of-fact in his answers to the question about his current situation and even seems prepared to leave Newcastle if the right offer for him and the club comes in:

“I’m very happy to help Newcastle back to the Premier League because that’s where the club deserves to be.”

“I heard something about other clubs but for now I just want to rest.” “I need to prepare for next season.”

“If there are some good offers for me – which are also good for the club – come in for me over the summer then we will speak about it.”

“If it doesn’t happen then I’m still a Newcastle United player, I have three years on my contract.”

“So we have to speak to the club, to the manager Rafael Benitez and we will see.”

Mitrovic scored his fourth International goal in the last four games  for Serbia in the 1-1 draw with Wales to keep Serbia  at the top of their group in qualification for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.

It would still be a bit of a shock to us if Rafa does sell Mitro this summer, with the news in the local press earlier this summer that Rafa would be keeping him for next season and see how he performs in his third season on Tyneside.

We’ll just have to wait and see and it could depend on which strikers Newcastle can get through the door this summer.

Here’s the video of the really good goal from Mitro on Sunday to make it 1-1 against Wales.

Although he scored a good goal he also missed a couple of half decent chances so it was a typical MItro performance.

This is the best news in recent days
Whilst I can understand why many have become emotionally attached to mitro
He is all emotion with limited talent ,he has no real pace and is not clinical enough in front of goal ,getting around 10 million and using his wages will allow us to get a significantly better replacement
    This would be good business

The team is set up around him at international level, they play to his strengths, it’s probably why he’s much better for them

He did miss a headed chance which was a half chance but no player in the world converts every chance / half chance they get

FFS this guy is only 22! A regular international. Supporter of NUFC with an ambition to be like his hero Shearer. Bags of potential, not as polished as Murphy for example who is 33 and experienced. Still a good 3rd choice premier league striker for my money, I think he will have a good career and we should keep him
