Player’s Succinct Summing Up Of Rafa Hits The Nail On The Head

Newcastle have not made much headway in the transfer market so far this summer, but it’s very early and neither have many other Premier League clubs made much progress either.

Some good groundwork will have  been done by Rafa Benitez and Managing Director Lee Charnley to get the four senior players through the door the manager wants in during the next two weeks and before pre-season training starts two weeks on Monday.

It’s well known that Rafa Benitez is a workaholic and just loves the job he has in football management and he has been very successful at it too.

It’s a happy man indeed who is doing the thing he just loves to do and is getting extremely well paid for it too, because he’s world-class at it.

But the man hardly takes any time off and we should point out that Rafa has not had a family holiday since he signed on at Newcastle on March 11th last year.

Rafa wanted to build a side for the Championship last summer so he didn’t take much time off and this summer he’s busy essentially dismantling that team and bringing in new players to have a squad that can challenge in the upper half of the Premier League next season.

Rafa is simply determined and single-minded about bringing success to Newcastle United and he made a very good start in his first full season on Tyneside by getting us promoted as Champions from the Championship.

Recently local lad Jack Colback summed up Rafa recently very succinctly and very accurately when he made these great comments about his current manager:

“For Rafa, he’s very thorough in everything he does.”

“I can’t see him ever switching off about the game – I think he goes home and talks to his wife about training!”

“That’s the beauty of him, he just loves the game.”

“For some managers, it might be more of a job now and it’s a little mundane, it’s their living.”

“But for him, he’s 100% football, he eats, sleeps and breathes it.”

And one surprise this summer is that Jack Colback could be leaving Newcastle with the local press reporting that Colback will be put on the transfer list this summer by Benitez.

We’ll have to wait and see if that happens..

Rafa is expected to clearout lots of senior players this summer with six already gone, as the manager completely transforms the Newcastle squad  for the second time in two summers.

Rafa and Newcastle United, with their passionate fan base, are a match made in heaven and we finally have the great manager the club and its supporters deserve.

Long may that partnership continue – how about at least 10 years?
