Newcastle’s Move For Striker Getting Both Complicated And Costly

Newcastle were said to be confident of getting Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham to sign for us after Rafa Benitez had a good talk to him one-on-one at St. George’s Park, where the teenager was training with the England U21 side before they set off for Poland for the European U21 Championships which started on Friday.

It was a good meeting and Rafa promised Tammy he would get lots of playing time at Newcastle and it appeared the youngster was receptive to moving to Newcastle on loan for the season.

But still nothing with his agent now saying nothing will happen until after the U21 Championships are complete at the end of this month.

19 year-old Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham – loan costs are rising

The Mail are now reporting the costs of the loan del are rising and that Newcastle will need to pay a £1M signing-on fee to the player and his agents.

In addition Tammy’s wages will be doubled by Chelsea to £50K/week and we pay that for the season plus there is a bonus scheme of payments, based on how many goals he scores.

That incentive-based fee would replace the normal loan fee for the season.

This all seems to be coming from demands from the Wasserman Media Group and the player’s agent Neil Fewings and we had reported his agent wanted more money yesterday and that he was waiting for better offers coming in – specifically it seems – for himself.

The Mail reports Chelsea are aware of the additional fees being discussed and are comfortable with them, but they would be since they don’t have to pay them.

🙂

With these new demands it seems things have even gone backwards with the Abraham potential deal – and it wouldn’t surprise us now if some clubs like Brighton and even Newcastle withdraw from the deal.

The agents of the players these days are in this business to make a killing for themselves and it’s going  to ruin the game (it already has), but we’ve said that many times before.

Tammy was impressive last season with 26 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions for Bristol City in the Championship and Chelsea now want him to have a full season on loan in the Premier League, before he competes for a Chelsea starting place – maybe as soon as next summer.

There’s a lot of money with PL clubs these days and it seems everybody wants a piece of it – including the players’ agents with their high financial demands.

It’s turning out to be a very difficult transfer market this summer with clubs not quite sure what to ask for their players, since the transfer fees seem to be rising dramatically again this summer from last summer, when they were bad enough.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

All donations go to Cancer Research UK.

Emma’s partner Danny lost a work colleague a couple of years ago to cancer and to had to watch the effects chemotherapy had on his body and it was heart wrenching to him as his friend had terminal cancer, but doggedly kept coming to work and plodding along.

Sadly he died in hospital and Emma’s auntie also had breast cancer but luckily came through it and was giving the all clear in the end.

So the two ladies are doing a great thing in raising funds to fight this disease and there are new treatments being developed all the time.

See if you can donate and help them reach their goals – Here’s the donation page

Thanks.

Along with the lobster legs, rooster necks and beach strewn with cans, bottles and food wrappers, I sense a BLOG meltdoon on the sea breeze!
With some Mitro stats and a bit of sneaky politics to boot!

But I missed the bloody BLOG bus 😮
    Never saw that one coming!

(Missed the bus so reposting in this thread)

I know some say we need 8 or more players signed this window. But I would rather see 2 or 3 key players of high quality over 8 or 10 mediocre players brought in.
If we could bring in Gylfi Sigurdson, William Carvalho and an experienced CB ( Smalling or Shawcross or Mangala ?), then add in a few of our younger players like Sterry, Aarrons, Balasser and retain a few squad players like Anita, and keep Mitro, Gayle and add perhaps an Andre Grey up front, I think we would do better than a bunch players who have been sitting on benches of big clubs or young prospects that may or may not develop further. Quality over quantity!

Noted yesterday, Stoke trying to offload their record signing, Imbula 18.3 million.
Swans trying to offload their record signing, Baston, 15.5million.

    Shows money isn’t everything. 😯

    You echo my feelings.

    Rafa
I suggested this guy to you ages ago. Now I tell you fxxx him. Imagine if your conversation with him hadn’t have been very good 😉

The search for a CF must continue. Of course.

We already have a super talent in Mitrovic (ps. Don’t sell. As you’ve found, they is rare and dead expensive) and the championship second top goal scorer. But we need to unearth that diamond which will make the difference.

Let’s bring down the numbers lest we will all be disappointed and, worse, we experience (you too Rafa) a long season: 3 top players, from MF onwards. Leave the defense as is, or bring in a couple potentials which I’m sure agents have already suggested.

Leave France where it is, for a while. Venture to Germany, S. America, etc.

    lochinvar,
I would rather pay 40m £ for Sigurdsson than get 5 players costing an average of 8m £ who turn out to be like Saivet, Cabella and Rivierre!

    Again….proven quality over unproven quantity!

Leave Abraham alone from now on, its getting too much of a yawn . his agent says nothing will be sorted til after the U,21 tournament. This article says we are finding this deal to be complicated and costly.
Every player we are supposedly interested in seems to be complicated and costly, which suggests to me that we don,t have that much to spend, Everton don.t seem to have a problem do they.
