Gianluca Di Marzio is a Sky Sports reporter in Italy and he has tweeted today that it looks like Monday will be the decision day for Pepe Reina and whether he stays at Napoli.
The Newcastle target has been trying to agree a contract extension to stay in Naples for a few weeks, but no such agreement has been forthcoming.
The news is that a decision will be made on whether a deal can be reached on a contract extension to keep the 34 year-old veteran goalkeeper at Napoli for the next few seasons.
34 year-old Pepe Reina – D Day is Monday
Pepe Reina’s long-serving agent Manuel Garcia Quilon will fly in on MOnday to meet with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis for the second time in just over three weeks, to try to sort out the future of the former Liverpool goalkeeper.
If an agreement cannot be reached expect Rafa Benitez to move in quickly and make an offer for his former Liverpool goalkeeper with personal terms having already been agreed to bring Pepe to Newcastle.
#Calciomercato | #Napoli, lunedì giornata decisiva per il futuro di #Reina https://t.co/xI07Ccogtp

The is what the tweet says – translated to English.
“Monday will be the decisive day for whether Pepe Reina will stay at Naples: there is a scheduled meeting between his agent and the President Aurelio De Laurentiis.”
“This encounter will clarify if Napoli will have to seek his replacement or just a goalkeeper to combine with Reina.”
“The future of which will be written on Monday.”
Newcastle and Napoli both need some clarification one way or the other on whether Pepe Reina will be staying in Naples for next season.
This is getting almost as bad as the Tammy Abraham saga.
What do you think?

Not yet mate no. Not sure how long it will take but with there being more people buying them this season it could be a while. Then it will be off to buy a cheap little diesel to go back nforth in!

We use to go from Chesterfield direct to Newcastle through Midland mainline, Just so we could have a few bevvies and get in to the celebratory mood. But it went from £46 to £90 odd quid return for two tickets .
So that is why we started driving up. It is great driving up in anticipation, But a long drive home if we get stuffed

Comment #44I think we have more money than most think! Personally I think Benitez will have 60-80 million, remember how good Rafa is financially, it’s about being astute and not telling the world we have X amount to spend or all players prices will become inflated. If we had nothing to spend Rafa would not of stayed that’s for sure.
It’s not only us have one signing in its 80% of prem sides. In Rafa we trust!!!!!

Comment #45See Will Hughes has signed for Watford for £8m so doubt we ever felt he was good enough for Rafa’s plans
