Newcastle Determined To Sign Players This Week – Defender Could Be Surprise Signing

We reported yesterday on Newcastle’s efforts to get Martin Skrtel the former Liverpool center-back to Newcastle and the more we thought about it the better we liked the deal with his current club wanting around £4.8M for the 32 year-old.

Martin is a vastly experienced Premier League player who played 320 times for Liverpool with 18 goals and 6 assists; he is a real threat from corners and the 6ft 3ins defender still has a good three years left in him at the top level.

Martin is also a leader who was popular with the Scouser fans because of his commitment and work ethic and he’s taken good care of himself over the years.

32 year-old Martin Skrtel – Newcastle favorites to sing him

And as we said, the more we think about the potential deal the more we think he can do a job for us over the next three years.

And there’s news in the Chronicle today that Newcastle are now favorites to sign Martin Skrtel and while that’s not too much of a surprise the good news is that Rafa is said to be keen to get sign him for Newcastle as he plans the next stage of his revolution on Tyneside.

Martin played 49 times for Fenerbahce last season, but he is available for transfer as the Turkish powerhouse want to reduce their wage bill for the coming season.

Swansea are the other Premier League club after the 90 times capped Slovakian center-back, but Ladbrokes have us at 2/1 favorites for his signature and that’s dropped from 8/1 from a few days back; Swansea are at 7/2 to sign the player.

The Chronicle is reporting that Rafa is a big fan of the Slovakian who he signed from Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2004 for £6.5M.

We think he would be a great signing and in his career so far he has made 455 first team appearances with 24 goals and 9 assists.

Would Martin Skrtel Be A Good Buy For Newcastle At £4.8M?

Skirtel- ARGHHHHHH – NO NO NO

Newcastle United remind me how the TORY party runs this Country

The Country has no money – got to have austerity, cut the NHS, cut the Police, cut the fire service, cut welfare sell of public services through the back door, get the cheapest deals deals – bug the safety, dodgy arm deals – ain’t got a clue what they are doing with Brexit.

Same time the ‘Big boss men’ ‘organisations’ getting richer, squirrels their ill gotten gains offshore and the members of parliament arse lick to the supreme leader Chairman May

And still the Tories supporters will still vote for them whatever

Remind you of a football club !!!

where the supporters including me will still buy my season ticket and support them

Skrtel and the Eibar defender (if that is still on the cards) would be solid reliable signings. Eibar have over-achieved based on their defense. first season back priority is safety.

    .

    Charlie,

Yes it’s depressing, more so when you consider the alternative is an administration run by ‘King’ Corbyn, who would dispense with the defence of the realm, tax anyone with money till they leave the country, run up the national debt on handouts to all and sundry, till the IMF are approached, as they were in the ’70s, help the country pay it’s debts.

Mind but theres some daft shit being written by some at top of page – sure the Tories are diabolical – but Labour’s every bit as untrustworthy
Skrtl’s scores lots of own goals does he ? News to me.

At the moment I think I’d welcome any frigging signing although to be fair, Benfica’s Greek player is a case in point for all the players available. They want ridiculous amounts of money – WAAAAAY beyond what they’ve actually worth. Then the agent tries to get loads more – for himself mainly (like Tammy Girl Abrahams case) – and they feed the media loads of crap to try to increase pressure on buying club.
The ridiculous amount of time the French centre back has taken – it’s all down to the Spaniards trying to get every Euro they can milk out of it including threatening Newcastle that other teams are in for him when they’re not.
So yes. Understandable everyone frustrated at the length of time taking.
But we don’t want to be ripped off either like Benfica and the greek’s shady agent are trying to do

All of this talk about Rafa being unhappy and possibly quitting, whether true or not, has got to be having a “wonderful” effect on the minds of any players who had been teetering on making a move to Newcastle. You would expect management to put out some sort of statement soon to reassure folks…? If not we could be witnessing another epic saga of how to mismanage a football club!

The trouble with us standing firm on not paying over the odds for players is we will be left with one solitary signing. The premier lge is full of over valued players, thats the way it is, and if any premier lge team wont cough up the money for that player then there is always another club who will.
We will end up with egg on our faces once again and end up trying to sign 3rd rate players which will end in massive relegation struggle once again. It will be without the help of Benitez though, he will of jumped ship and i cant blame him one bit.

Charlie in the Gollowgate, do the ‘Labour Big Boss Men’ get rich at the same time as the Tory ‘Big Boss Men’? If Labour are for the ‘working class’ how come they have so many millionaires?……
