Rafa Benitez Waiting On Veteran To Accept Offer

We were wondering yesterday what the status of Yoan Gouffran was, since it was a few weeks ago that he was reported to be trying to sort out a deal to stay on Tyneside maybe for a couple more years.

And there is news this morning in the Chronicle that Rafa is now wanting a decision from Yoan Gouffran on whether he will accept the club’s latest offer made to him.

The 31-year-old winger will become a free agent on Saturday – July 1st – and since preseason training starts on Monday it’s reasonable for the manager to ask Yoan if he will still be a Newcastle player come Monday by accepting the deal that’s been offered to him.

Yoan Gouffran – after scoring last season

Yoan was said to be working on a  new deal to stay at Newcastle at the same time it was announced that Vurnon Anita would not be staying and that the Dutchman had been released.

Yoan Gouffran has been a transformed player since Rafa Benitez came into the club last year  and he had his best season for Newcastle last season since signing on in January 2013 from Bordeaux for around £1.5M.

He played a massive 45 times last season for Newcastle with 7 good goals and 5 assists and he could still do a job as a squad player for Newcastle.

Rafa has confidence in the winger/striker who always works his socks off for the side on the field and in training too, so he’s a great example to the youngsters at the club.

We would hope that Yoan stays on Tyneside for a couple more years since he does have Premier League experience (89 appearance in the PL for Newcastle) and can be used in games when we need players working hard and tracking back.

He’s played 141 total games for Newcastle with 19 goals and 13 assists and helped us get promoted last season with some excellent performances, especially in the first half of last season.

We need some reliable squad players in the squad and Yoan can be one of them.

Comments welcome.

Chronicle reporting that united’s youngster Yasin Ben El- Mhanni helped out at the Grenfell Tower…well done that young man.

Here we are, a few days from pre-season training, a few weeks away from the start of the season and no signings of any significance.

Being newly promoted, we should be faced with the same position as Brighton and Huddersfield – short of money. But, there it ends – those two clubs have made on roads into the transfer market.

Ordinarily, one would say that cash may not be available until the start of our new financial year but there’s no reason why agreements can’t be made and players signed subject to payment being made on July 1st.

There’s surely something not quite right at the Club.

If Rafa’s being forced to sell before he can buy, there is a real danger of us getting of to a bad start to the Prem season, having to play catch-up. We’re all aware of what happens when clubs begin their season badly.

If Ashley’s playing silly beggars over funding Rafa’s hoped-for buys, he’s playing with fire and running the risk of Newcastle United being relegated – for the third time under his ownership. Does Ashley focus more on the relative pennies while risking the hundreds of millions available through establishing the Club in the Prem?

Just looked at the incoming prem transfers so far…. no one has REALLY pulled up any trees, yet. Liverpool and everton have made a few decent signings, but other than that there has been very little movement from the “bigger” clubs. I don’t see any reason for panic yet. If there has been no signs of movement NEXT Thursday, then i’d be worrying.

Markaccus – Last year we didn’t make our first signing until the 29th June (Sels I think) followed by Gayle & Ritchie at the beginning of July so no need to panic yet BUT I would expect movement very soon!

The deal with Lejeune from Eibar will happen
The player has already agreed a 4/5 year deal
    with NUFC
According to radio SER who are usually reliable
all fees are agreed between the two clubs
it’s just the payment terms they are haggling

Yep, movement should come very soon, but i’d rather wait a few more days than end up with signings for signings sake. I’d hate to end up with another thauvin or marveaux.

Seen McKay play a lot and he is quick and has good footballing skills.
I think he is physically to small foe the EPL but would be good as an impact sub.
I do’nt think he will cost a lot of money as he has fallen out with the new Rangers manager.

According to the chronic, the hella Verona game is now when Rafa is hoping to have most of his signings in for, it’s no longer the 1st July, however lejeune is expected to be announced very soon (strange that) .
I like the look of ojo when he played for the u20 , he’s very direct and can change a game ,however, the last time I saw Aaron’s …..so could he, if there’s an option to buy then great, if not, it’s a risk , putting too many loan players in the starting lineup means you cant have a settled team as they will leave within the year.

I just think they have a hell of a lot to do, arranging for all the loans out, all the player sales, working within a strict wage budget, especially then the likes of Tammy tapin are getting £50k a week.
Rafa has been with his family for a couple of weeks , he told me when I was around his collecting his provvy money.
Penfold has been shmoozing the potential buyers and the new bloke who has had the poems written about him will be cooking the books so won’t have time, old man Carr has squirreled off so that leaves precisely no-one at the club capable of making a decision until they came back today………after they have got past the customary exchanging of fridge magnets and sticks of rock they will start on the important business, the first cup of coffee of the morning , then it’s all football talk……no action or decisions, just talk but maybe if we’re lucky a decision may be reached on something next Tuesday

The receptionist at my works daughter works in accounts for Manchester and is good friends with mangala to the extent where he gives her free box tickets. I’ve been asking my receptionist to ask her to ask him. But she says they no nothing about move 2 Newcastle. Me personally wud prefer carvalho. Had a good game last night playing the full 2 hours. Didn’t really put a foot wrong. Didn’t seem to tire and pulled off some good long passes to feet

Cant agree with Carvalho being like Shelvey from what Ive seen hes not got the range of passing or the creative nature imo he’d be good beside Shelvey because he could pass the ball off to him like Tiote used to do alongside Cabaye

Wwsbrd. I kind of agree. The thing tiote. Bless him. He had an aggressive pass. Alot of the time it was to power for players to control. And ended up losing ball in middle of park. Carvalho seems more calm and collective. But anyways seems pointless even mention possibility of signing him as Hoddle stated last Nyt. Carvalho agent is peps brother.

Aye Tiotes passing and time on the ball sometimes let him down but his fire was great. I agree with Carvalho being calmer with the ball but he still does the odd fancy pass for no reason must be a CDM thing haha

Didnt know that about his agent like though that doesnt mean Pep will think hes good enough for Man City…not that I reckon he will end up here but u never know meant to be available for around what they are saying we’re bidding for that Greek lad. Time will tell he might only want CL football…would have to put in a clause forcing him to shave that tash off though
