Well at least this saga is over as the Chronicle chief sports writer Lee Ryder has reported that former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero has indeed signed on the dotted line for Chelsea.
It seems that Willy wanted to back up Thibaut Courtois and play in the Championship League and the local cups – FA Cup and League Cup – for Chelsea next season.
Newcastle had offered Willy a deal to become the number one goalkeeper at Newcastle for next season but he preferred the Chelsea offer.
The news has just come out in the last 30 minutes of so that the 35 year-old Argentine has signed for Chelsea on the first day deals can be officially made this summer.
Here’s Lee’s tweet on the subject which is now being reported via several national outlets:
Willy Caballero signs for Chelsea despite earlier offer from #nufc to be number 1.

You win some and you lose some, although we thought Willy would have been a good signing for us for a couple of years – and he always seemed like a very dependable goalkeeper last season for City.
This may be the very last of 105 articles we have written on Willy this summer.
What do you think?
