With Newcastle finally signing Florian Lejeune today we have now brought two players into the club this summer and allowed seven players to leave and our total outlay is currently at £4M.
It was good to get Florian finally over the line but it took far too long, but anyway – the deal is now done and that’s good.
Newcastle have now brought in two players this summer, Christian Atsu and Florian Lejeune for a combined total of £15M so that’s not a bad price for two good players in this summer’s inflated transfer window.
New signing Florian Lejeune at St. James’ Park yesterday
Managing Director Lee Charnley on Thursday night at the Fans Forum meeting said that Newcastle were about to announce some signings this week – so we expect more signings soon.
The next news will be that somebody has come in for their medical, but it’s difficult to know which player that will be.
Louise Taylor in the Guardian has said that Newcastle have recently put in bids for several players including Hull City’s Kamil Grosicki and Tom Huddlestone, Arsenal’s Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs, Burnley’s Andre Gray, Villarreal’s Cedric Bakambu and Manchester City’s Joe Hart.
So it may be one of those.
Our bet would be we have done the deal at £8M for 27 year-old Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs and if he comes in that’s another good signing for Newcastle.
Who do you think will be the next player through the door?

One of our readers Alex Wannop is completing in the GN 10K next Sunday and also the GN Run to collect funds for Tiny Lives, because the Trust provided lifesaving care for his son Isaac, when he was born by C-section and in some distress.
The Tiny Lives Trust funds the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI where Alex’s son Isaac spent the first few weeks of his life.
Alex is appreciative of the work the great doctors and nurses did to save his son’s life and that’s why he’s raising money.
Please support this very worthwhile charity on Alex’s Just Giving page where there are pictures of his son Isaac – thanks.
