It’s always worth a look at the hashtag #nufc to see what’s on Newcastle fans’ minds on Twitter.
Of course it’s the summer transfers right now with the silly season in full swing now, so we are being linked with almost every player that walks – so no change there.
The thing that is good is that Rafa seems to have cast his net wide and far and we have a lot of players we could sign – the key is for Rafa to spend the money available wisely and get the right players in for the squad.
That’s not easy, but Rafa is one of the best in the business at doing that and there’s still ample time, so we should probably try to be as patient as possible.
25 year-old Brazilian striker Willian Jose – Newcastle target from Real Sociedad
Here’s some comments from Newcastle fans this Sunday morning and as usual they cover a broad spectrum of opinion.
If we get Samaris, Dost, Hart, Traore and Gibbs, ill be happy with that!! #NUFC
— Kieran Parr (@KieranParr17) July 9, 2017
Rafa will attract top players they said ?really? Even wolves attract and sign better than anyone we are linked with #NUFC

People commenting on how rubbish our potential signings are forget that we have Rafa who actually works with and improves players! #NUFC

For any #NUFC fan slating any player Rafa wants just think back to Ciaran Clark. Nobody wanted him either.

If I see the phrase “box clever” when it come to regarding #NUFC transfers, I’m gonna go AKA.

They hope to bring in at least one new addition before the Hearts game. As for strikers, Willian Jose is on Rafa’s short list. #NUFC

In what way are you so far disappointed in Rafa and why were you so happy with Pardew?

Comment #2None of us know what is happening at the club right now or what the long or short term plan is, are we being set up horse a sale, is there a strict budget, is Rafa unhappy, happy or ready to walk. Until the guy comes out and says something I am assuming that whatever plans Rafa has for us are going along just fine.

Comment #6Navas link is just because it’s a Sunday I imagine but he’s a good player on a free…i doubt it’s true because if we wanted him we’d of made a play for him before now its why Rafa skipped his holiday to get free agents and loans sorted
Traore I am coming around too he would move us up the pitch very quickly but we’d need someone for him to pass the ball off to. Shame about Darlow though

Comment #7I see toon kk ia already predicting our relegation, had is preseason predictions this time last year have been right he’d now be predicting our relegation in to league two. Had his mid season predictions been right we’d still be recovering from our devastating play off loss to Reading and be preparing for relegation in to league one this season.

Comment #8I think Jespers true colours have been revealed
I used to get panned for criticising his neggy attitude
Now he comes back after regarding us as unworthy
because we had a season in the Championship.
He cannot even use the excuse of us not being on TV
I often watched the Toon last season on Danish sports channels

Keylor Navas will continue as number one at Real Madrid and Kiko Casilla – despite interest from Rafael Benitez to bring him to Newcastle United will retain his place as understudy.

Comment #11I’m thinking it has to be Joe Hart , if Rafa wants to take our goalkeeping
to a different level
DeLaurentiis , Napoli’s owner seems to be yanking Rafa’s chain over

Comment #12“”Liverpool and Everton were first, Arsenal have just joined them, and Huddersfield Town managed it twice in the same week. The transfer window still has the best part of two months to run and the real horse-trading is yet to start, but this looks like it could be the summer when almost every Premier League club sets a transfer record.”” Paul Wilson

Thanks for the update about Roberta Flack’s lad being a useful pianist. That track rocks among.
And, for your edification, here’s Ernest Ranglin, at the piano.

Comment #14Actually will seeing the club spend lots of money and break its £16M transfer record increase local pride or elevate the feeling that football is an elusive and separate entity to the rest of us?……what would Dummett have to say about that?

Comment #17I’d definitely take Navas. There’s no poor city players. Sagna was long in the tooth but any of them worth having.
My list in the positions we seem to be looking at is
Gk – Hart
LB – gibbs
DM – delph but Samaris sounds interesting
Winger – Navas
Striker – iheanacho
What’s your 5. Obviously we are looking at other positions but what 5 do you want most?

Stop twisting things, when we were were relegated I said we would be, and we were. A year ago I said we would be able to compete on and off the pitch in the championship, which was true and we were promoted.
We need some quality players signed up before the season starts or we will be in a relegation battle with our current players, I’m sure Rafa knows it even if you don’t.

Comment #24The great thing about having Rafa as manager is that we know he will put a team together capable of holding our own in the PL.
I think it is good policy to go for 10mil signings as we need at least 3 more, possibly 4 to compete next season.
Then hopefully we can start making marquee signings the following season and seriously compete at the top end!
Whatever and whoever, in Rafa we trust!

Comment #25Jib, what ye thinking on the cricket? Bat until tea time then declare? Only two results looking plausible now, I reckon. England win or a draw. Just can’t see them skittling us and knocking the runs off without a totally disastrous collapse. Nearly 250 ahead and nine wickets remaining. Haven’t beaten these at Lords for sixty years in a test match, so time to change that.

Comment #29Messi is signing a 4 year contact of 1 million a week, nice work if you can get it. Sanchez of Arsenal is requesting £400,000 a week. Newcastles top earner is Shelvey on £90,000 per week. Just shows where we stand in the world of football.

It cracks me up when new signings like Lukaku refer to Man Utd as the ‘biggest club in the world’
Big yes. Biggest no!
Also, I can’t wait for Rooney’s press conference at Everton, his ‘ spiritual home’
now he has amassed a fortune playing for Man Utd. Will he be welcomed universally by Evertonians?

There is some weather floating around London
First big test of Roots captaincy
If the weather holds – after lunch play 20Twenty until teatime then declare
if we still have any wickets left.
We’ll need a full day+ to get these out

Comment #33Cheers budge. Aye, I was being a touch conservative with tea time. Depends how quickly we get the runs. I think a lead of 450 will demoralise them completely. Wicket’s breaking up and spin will play a big part. Just can’t see us losing from here now.

There are only a handful of clubs in the world who can afford £400 a week for 1 player. They are usually backed by mega billionaires and could not do it based on true revenues.
We are, I believe in the top 20 clubs in the world for revenues and turnover so we’re not so shabby!

Comment #40Never even thought about the weather to be honest, it’s been so nice lately. Another two hundred runs will bat them out of the game, whenever that arrives. Still got all our big hitters to come in yet. Could be a seriously entertaining day either way,so I’m set for the day.
