Newcastle Fans Have Their Say On Today’s New Transfer News

The big news this morning is that Newcastle are trying to get a deal done at £8M for Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy and if we can get the 22 year-old England U21 International in for that price it would be a good deal.

There are other PL clubs after the youngster but the good news is that he wants to join Rafa on Tyneside.

Newcastle are hopping to get this deal done by Friday’s first preseason friendly game against Hearts at Tynecastle.

Newcastle bid £8M for Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy

Newcastle are also trying to get a deal done for free agent Jesus Navas of Manchester City and there’s a decent chance we can get Navas in this week too – we hope so.

Here’s some typical comments this  morning from Newcastle fans who still want one signing this week – maybe even two?

Your right there mate. No activity this week and frustration and doubt will start to raise its ugly head more and more. I’m praying we see some arrivals this week!

I’d love to know what’s going on behind closed doors. The silence has become deafening.

Might be for the best that people waiting on signings before getting a ST don’t bother. Save yourself money and save us the booing the second things don’t go right.

Expat – agree on Lascelles, he can and will only improve imo. Perez jury still out but I feel will always be easily shoved off the ball and is highly inconsistent whatever league he’s played in. But as for Colback & Dummett there’s nowhere else to go, they have been at the heart of what has been wrong in the recent policy of settling for workhorses, I don’t doubt their commitment and loyalty but if they aren’t good enough to help us be better than lower league strugglers we need to invest in better.

Given that Rafa’s erupted to be a one for planning, I find it hard to believe that these single figure million players are anything but desperation by the media.

Rafa’ll have had his targets identified some weeks ago and they would’ve been discussed with Charnley et al and in the door by now. These ‘targets’ are either fabricated or Rafa’s targets haven’t been signed.

    So, what’s going on?

If Ashley’s trying to get some outside investors in, he may be playing a dangerous game of brinkmanship by not bankrolling any signings? Alternatively, he may have delegated financial sign-offs to Barnes during his time in court? Or, could he just be being bloody difficult?

£32m for Sigurdson? Crazy but it appears that Everton are prepared to pay it.

Like the new away kit if it is real.
Shame we have no one worth wearing it apparently!

    Gk, Gibbs, Winger, Striker.
That’s the minimum required I think.

Looks like Loftus-Cheek is away to Palace on loan. These soft southern boys just not prepared to leave their beloved London if they don’t have to. Could’ve gone to Southampton or Brighton down South but waited for a London club to come in and jumped on it. This is one of the problems we have before any other problems kick in – persuading players to come this far north.
To be honest, with that sort of attitude we’ve probably got off lightly. If they don’t want to away from Mummy and fend for themselves, we’re better off without them. We want players who want to be here and fight for the shirt, not ones who want guaranteed playing time and require someone to wash behind their ears. NEXT!

32 for Sigurdson’s a snip, compared to 25 for McCarthy.

Toontaff, teaching them to write is hard enough mate, the rest, such as punctuation only comes in their forties and fifties when they’ve finally grasped the basics.

Saw an article where Chris Hughton made him and his twin Josh wear different colour boots, so he could tell them apart.

“Newcastle are set to face stiff competition from Southampton and Crystal Palace, with all three clubs prepared to meet his £8 million asking price, but it is believed that playing under Rafa Benitez is Murphy’s preferred option.”

“It is believed” – What is that based on?

Perez is still young and played well enough in the PL to earn bids from a host of top line clubs at home and abroad. I believe Spurs offered 17 million quid for him a couple of seasons ago.

In all sucessful teams, you need the workhorses to do the donkeywork for the stars the way Dummett does for Ritchie/Atsu and Colback does for shelvey. Most of their work is unheralded but at the same time, vital to the tactics or the team.

Agreed about the 32 million Everton are paying for Siggutdson but they are partially responsible for this transfer fee upsurge by paying a ridiculous fee for both Pickford and Claessen whilst wanting 25 million for a player not worth 8 in McCarthy

Looks like this one has got legs anyway. Seems the lad wants to work with Rafa and Norwich are already looking for a replacement for ‘Newcastle bound Murphy’.
Possible we could do a part exchange with Big Murph for Little Murph, as Norwich showed an interest in signing the big striker. Two birds with one stone and one in one out. Would be ideal imo.

Seems to be an abundance of double barrelled names emerging as footballers, as the upper middle classes realise the money involved in football is worth paying clubs to coach their offspring. 🙂
