50 year-old Newcastle United legend Paul Gasgoigne is back in his home town on Tyneside and played in a charity game for the Newcastle Legends team in memory of Pavel Srnicek at Dunston over the weekend – and it was all arranged by Steve Wraith.
The game was a huge success as was the appearance of Paul – who is looking a lot better these days – and that’s great to see.
Paul has also talked about our world-class manager Rafa Benitez and he says that you just have to look at what Rafa’s done at his other clubs to realize he can bring real success back to Newcastle United.

We hope that’s true and also that it happens quickly and we are looking forward to finishing in the top ten of the Premier League next May and getting close to £130M from the Premier League so we will have more money to spend on players next summer.
Gazza seems to have a positive view of what Rafa can do at newcatsle as he had this to say today in the Chronicle:
“Rafa has made some good signings since he took over.” “He will probably spend a bit more like every team.”
“That’s what you have to do if you want to match those in the top four.” “Hopefully Newcastle do well next season.”
“I don’t watch them much, but I still miss the game.” “But Rafa is a good manager and you only have to look on his CV at the amount of stuff he’s won.”
“Hopefully he can do the same with Newcastle.” “I have been up a few times and not managed to see a game. But next time I’m up I hope I get the chance to watch the Toon play.”
“It’s where I started my career and I love it there.”
“I sent a text to Alan Shearer the other day and told him I had one over him because I scored at the Gallowgate End before him.”
“He said ‘You haven’t got a statue’ and I told him I have got one at the Fox & Hounds!”
Same old Paul ….
