Newcastle Now Reported After 26 Year-Old Senegal Attacking Midfielder

Newcastle United are reported to be interested in signing Senegalese midfielder Badou N’Diaye, who currently plays for Osmanlispor in the Turkish Super League – according to Sky Sports.

But from reports of the last day or two it seems the Premier League club in the lead to sign the 26 year-old is West Ham United who have made moves in the last 24 hours to sign the 8 times capped Senegal International who is an attacking midfielder.

Both clubs are after midfield players who can score goals this summer and over the last two seasons in Turkey, N’Diaye has scored 18 goals and has 7 assists in 75 games for Osmanlispor.

26 year-old Badou N’Diaye – who currently plays for Osmanlispor in Turkey

Osmanlispor have told Sky Sports they have agreed a deal in principal with an English club for N’Diaye and it very much looks like that club is West Ham.

The Hammers are said to be long-term admirers of the midfielder and the fee mentioned is said to be around £8.5M.

Before moving to Osmanlispor two years ago he played four seasons for Norwegian club FK Bodøo/Glimt playing 114 games with 31 goals scored and 19 assists.

He made his debut for the Senegal side three years ago.

Unless Newcastle move aggressively to sign this player, there is probably little chance he will be coming to Newcastle, because the deal with the Hammers seems to be too far a long.

But you never know…

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

    Jazzy P,
I’ve been relatively calm regarding the transfer situation but I think you’re right in saying that if a couple of more faces aren’t brought in before the first friendly on Friday something is amiss.

Would you put that down to the board or the scouting network.
I would have hoped that all transfer targets would have been identified before the season even finished, And I think I can remember Rafa saying it wouldn’t change our transfer policy no matter the outcome.
Do you think Carr leaving has altered our targets and Rafa hopes now to bring in players he knows rather than players that are suggested to him

“West Ham also interested” – so either it’s total agent fed to gain interest in his client or the articl’s being spiced up with an additional link to Newcastle then.

….I don’t think our club are actually open enough with other clubs to actually offer money in exchange for players let alone let real target be known to media outlets.

I’m still in the “We could still have signed 5 quality players in 2 weeks” mode but every other Ashley transfer window tells me that Shefki Kuqi and Sibierski are more likely to return.

Its sad to see his troubles played out in the press.
I hope he can put it behind him this time and find a way to beat that horrible drink and drug problem that just keeps coming back to haunt him.

A trip overseas where beer is outlawed could be a good idea
Away from the press and folk just waiting for his next slip up.

It would be gutting to see him do a georgie best.

Seems Norwich have KB’d our bid for Murphy, saying he’s not for sale after all. He’s got four years left on his contract so I reckon unless he puts in a transfer request that’s dead in the water.
Which again only shows how little the press actually know about wtf is going on. He was virtually on his way a couple of hours ago! 🙂
If the report that he was keen to work with Rafa was true, then something could be worked out if he put in a transfer request. We could cover his signing on fee he would lose by making such a request, but this seems unlikely to happen now.

Howay man, wake up. If Norwich have said Jacob Murphy’s not for sale, then they’re saying offer zillions and he could be available.

I don’t see a problem with not getting new players in before Friday, Rafa might see the game as an opportunity to give a few of the ones he isn’t certain about to impress. Plus some of the younger ones.

I’d be a bit more concerned if the Spurs match is coming up and no new players in.

I’ll be surprised if there isn’t anyone in this week though.

I seem to remember suggesting a couple of weeks ago that all may not be well at the Club. But, I was pooh-poohed as being negative.

As I said then, I’d be delighted to be proven wrong on that.

Swansea want 50m for Sygurdsson – and that alone shows where the problems lie in signing players. He’s good, but nowhere near 50m good. If Everton pay that then the world needs certifying. Is he worth half that? He shines in an average Swansea side, but 50m? Crazy money.

Has the Oukoboro deal now gone dead in the water as well.

Bill, the world’s gone mad mate. No point Sky pumping this money in if the money turns out to be of less value to clubs than the last deal. Only real people benefitting are agents, who take that money out of the game. Would appear buying early means paying a huge premium on players. Hopefully it might settle down when clubs realise they’re pricing themselves out of the market and prices will become sensible later in the window.

Huge shame about Jacob Murphy if we have been knocked back. One of the more exciting (and realistic) links so far. I did say the other day that I thought it would take avery big bid to tempt Norwich, unless Murphy himself took it upon himself to push it through, sadly that seems to be the case. Not sure how big Norwich would be looking for, but it would be a very good investment, maybe offering £20million for Jacob and Josh might prove more tempting. That fee offers greater options for a replacement at a high level, with a less expensive back up for them.

    Essex,
Aboubakar – hopefully that is dead in the water. At the recent Confederations Cup the Cameroon coach lamented his attacking options saying strikers were their biggest weakness and they lacked a good, clinical forward – Aboubakar was their in the squad. Aboubakar played every game and scored once. However Cameroon had 36 shots in three games and only hit the target 6 times. (Stats courtesy of FIFA). In 9 shots Aboubakar hit the target twice.

Also a big shame if we were after Loftus Cheek and he has chosen Palace over us. Has Chalobah gone to Watford yet? I read that was around the £5million mark. Not sure what there is not to like about a deal for him at that price.

Maybe we aren’t interested in these players, but if we are and made an approach or tentative enquiry and were knocked back for Watford and Palace, then it is a worrying sign.

Why bother with this article which is groundless as the player is 90% going to West Ham.
For the past 3/4 weeks the main topic has been ‘Newcastle to sign these 3 or 4 players this week’, when are we going to get some quality information instead of all this pure speculation.
The bottom line is pre season has started and only 1 new arrival. Without another 5 Quality signings it will be another relegation battle.

    Ron,
Navas isn’t a great loss when looked at in isolation, but when you consider we have offered Goofy a new deal, then I think I’d have preferred the added ability to unlock defences in Navas over Goofy. Particularly if it is true that Sevilla are only going to pay him £25,000 a week. I bet Goofy’s offer will be, at the very least, an equivalent amount.

Yes we finished top scorers which was good to see, at home which is where I had the issue we were cautious in my opinion hence why we lost as many as we did.

I don’t compare us to the likes of Brighton or Huddersfield because they were a million miles of us in terms of quality. If you are going to make comparisons do you think rafa would have got promoted with Brighton or Huddersfield? It’s a pointless debate really.

I think we averaged more goals with Mitro in the side than without him, does that mean based on stats we should have started Mitro more? Stats can be misleading and you are one of the first to point that out.

At home in the championship we could have been more attacking that’s the only point I was making.

everybody and there granny know we need players so the press are using to sell paper, websites are using us as clickbait, agents are using that fact to their advantage to help generate an interest in there clients

it’s absolutely impossible for us to have inquired for over 200 players be lucky if it’s 20 inquiries

I think Murphy sums up our problem. When a Premier League club shows an interest in a player they are quoted a ridiculously high price or told the player is not for sale in an effort to force an increased bid. The top teams and Everton pay up, the rest lose interest.

If Gamez was bought in to be nothing but a filler then why not offer him a 1 year deal last season. If we got promoted then he could have just left, anyway I think we will just go round the houses with this debate.

As I said this week will be important for us to make some real progress, I have hope that we can. Let’s see what this week brings

    Essex,
How long was the video? 5 minutes or so? He has played over 14,000 minutes in his career. To get to the level he is at then of course there are going to have been moments that are highlight reel worthy to make a video of that length. I wouldn’t ever judge a player based on a highlight reel video like that. It gives you an idea of certain things, but what it has left out is far more indicative and realistic

Tbf Bournemouth paid up an unbelievable amount of Ake, 20m I think, it’s certainly not good for us to keep working with these constraints. We are unhappy or getting restless, no doubt rafa is probably thinking wtf is going on……the silence even from him is disturbing

    OT,
The same reason we had to offer Murphy a two year deal, Gamez has played at the highest level in Spain, he can still be a useful utility defender that hopefully won’t have to be used. We have had one of the most consistently poor defenaive records in the PL over the last five years due to us not having enough cover, Rafa addressed this.

Our Toon – I have no idea why you think the championship team we had was capable of being more attacking while at the same time not conceding more. We were fit for purpose and played to our strengths, and they were enough but not dazzling, Rafa knew this.

Otherwise we wouldn’t all be worrying about lack of current transfer activity.
