There were various reports yesterday that Norwich City have turned down Newcastle’s initial offer for 22 year-old winger Jacob Murphy, which was thought to be about £8M.

But there was news a few weeks ago that Norwich wanted up to £12M for their England U21 International and so it was half expected the initial offer would be turned down, but Newcastle will go back in with an improved offer to secure the talented winger – maybe for £10M.

The news today is that Rafa is demanding that Newcastle submit an improved offer for the player.

22 year-old Jacob Murphy scores against  …. yes it’s Newcastle
Sign him up!

The news yesterday was that Rafa has decided that Murphy is one player he definitely wants at Newcastle so we’ll have to pay out the money to get Jacob through the door, with Newcastle making a big push for signings this week.

The Mail was the first to report the offer had been rejected and that’s been followed by other outlets, but we don’t think it’s the end of Newcastle’s pursuit of this talented player.

Last season Jacob scored 9 goals and 8 assists in the 40 total games he played for the Canaries in the Championship.

The season before that he was on loan at Coventry City with Newcastle’s Adam Armstrong and scored 10 goals and 10 assists in 43 total games.

So this lad can get the goals and the assists and we expect Newcastle to move in and get this deal sealed – this week.

The good news is that apparently the 22 year-old is keen to sign on with Rafa Benitez and Newcastle United.

That’s always good to hear.

And the news from yesterday is that Rafa seems positive and upbeat at the 1892 Foundation Cup and he said that Lee Charnley and company were all working hard on signings behind the scenes.

And according to the Chronicle chief sports writer Lee Ryder, Rafa was confident yesterday of getting the signings he needs this summer.

That’s got to be good news for Newcastle UNited fans this Tuesday morning.

Comments welcome.

Would like this player in and Adama Traore form Boro. His dribbling skills remind me of HBA but only much faster on the ball. I bet that if we get him he will excite the fans at games and Rafa will surely coach him into producing a good final ball. Hopefully we can get them both in these next few days.
