There was some bad news for Newcastle yesterday and it seems we have missed out on our second potential loan deal for a Chelsea player for next season.
We missed out on 19 year-old Tammy Abraham after we had thought we were favorites to get him signed and news yesterday is that Crystal Palace will almost certainly be successful in getting the 21 year-old central midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek signed on a season loan deal.
The news was their new Dutch manager Frank de Boer has moved in quickly and won the race to sign the England U21 International and Ruben was having a medical yesterday and the deal could even be announced today.

It’s not clear if Palace will be allowed to put an option to buy in the loan contract – but probably not – so it is likely to be a straight loan for just this coming season.
It seems the convenience of staying close to Chelsea in London could have been a big factor in Ruben’s decision.
Rafa had tried to sign him permanently or on loan in January so this is the second time we have missed out on signing the impressive young England player.
But we don’t particularly like the loan deal with no option to buy, especially when Rafa can improve a player so much in just one season.
That’s exactly what Rafa did last season with the likes of Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden, Dwight Gayle and Ciaran Clark – among others.
So it looks like we missed out on Ruben, but Managing Director Lee Charnley and company have a number of targets they are currently pursuing.
And from what the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder had to say after talking with Rafa yesterday at Benton – that the manager was upbeat about the transfers – has to be good news for Geordie fans everywhere.
Rafa is Mr. Newcastle these days.
Howay The Lads!!

Toon want Adama Traore
It shouldn’t take a big negotiating team to sort this one out
The hold up must be at the NUFC end
As soon as we get Pepe Reina or A.N.Other g.k. we’ll be
ready for lift off on this one.

Comment #8The reason we struggle for signings is simple. Ashley wants ‘value for money’ ….. Problem is his value for money is far too extreme than other owners of football clubs.
He is money obsessed and not a penny more than ‘he’ thinks is worth.
It’s ok telling Rafa there is #millions available unless he allows Rafa the authority to spend it.
Just look how long it took to sign our CB that had a release clause !

Comment #9Bambams…I am not sure Rafa has to call Ashley everytime he wants to buy a player…
…I think that’s just what we all tell us selves to make sense of it all.

You may be right fella. I just think over the 10 years he has owned us we know what he is like.
Only when we looked like relegation did he spend, this time I am unsure what he will do.

Comment #11Jose Naranjo is a 22 year old Spanish left winger
We were supposed to be after him last Summer
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-linked-21-year-11489944
He didn’t fancy leaving Spain for the UK
However in the last window in January
he moved from Celta Vigo to Genk
(He didn’t fancy England so he moved to Belgium !!!!)
He’s hardly played in the Jupiler
I just wonder

Comment #13Let them go, if they can’t see the potential of working under Rafa they’re just mercenaries and we don’t want them at our club.
