Newcastle have been interested in signing 24 year-old Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan for two years now and we suppose because we are having some difficulties getting our targets to Tyneside this summer, Newcastle have again been linked with the 23 times capped Uruguayan International.
The report is in French news outlet Sud Ouest.
Diego moved to Bordeaux from Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting in Montevideo four years ago last January and he has a decent goalscoring record in France.
24 year-old Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan
Last season he scored 10 goals in 34 games in all competitions and in the four and a half seasons he’s been at the French club he has scored 39 goals in 149 games with 13 assists which is OK for a French club we suppose.
Rolan’s biggest strength seems to be his versatility, but he can score goals and he’s a decent footballer who made his debut for Uruguay back in September of 2014 in a friendly win against Japan in Sapporo.
Newcastle may be interested in him again because the lad has only one year left on his contract and could become a free agent next summer, but Fulham are also reported to be interested in singing the player.
The news is that Bordeaux are eager to cash in on their striker this summer.
French news outlet Sud Ouest have reported that Rolan was in London yesterday trying to fix up a deal, so we have to assume that was with Fulham, but maybe not.
The news from the French outlet is that Newcastle are trying to hijack Fulham’s deal, so we could see the striker finally joining Newcastle.
It would be good to see Newcastle eventually get some decent players through the door this summer, but we wonder how far down the list we are going before we can make a deal?
It’s a little worrying at the moment, but nothing that we cannot fix since there is still plenty of time in this summer’s transfer window.
What do you think?

Comment #41I don’t really know much about Rolan, I’m sure he’ll be 3rd 4th choice maybe even Charnleys choice. I don’t think Rafa has much imputation in this transfer window tbh.

11m for Rolan, not a prolific goalscorer is he. Wonder how often he’s played upfront.
Batshuayi is the one we should be going all out for, surely it makes sense to get him and have him as a priority signing.

Think Rafa is coppering up now to buy Batshuayi. Could take a while lol.
It would be a waste if he went to Turkey. Surely we could get him on loan with a option to buy next summer. Please make it so Rafa!

Maybe you are paranoid eh, jumping to conclusions and making accusations / insinuations. As I say the problem ultimately lies with you, this blog doesn’t revolve around you.
If I wanted to be smug I’d say something like…..Still waiting on Arma becoming the next Rooney though as you were predicting……now that’s a smug comment!!

I don’t even know what to say regarding our transfer policy at the moment mate, It seems sporadic at best.
links keep getting written off yet there is certain amount of truths in them.
Loftus knew of our interest and so did Tammy. The Lejuene link turned out to be true.
I’m just clinging on that the better quality players are the players we have interest in

Defo worth it on a loan with option to buy, he’d be ideal for what rafa needs in his system

It does seem as though Semedo was also true if sporting Lisbon and his agent are to be believed. We’ve missed out on some key players by the sounds of things. Hopefully we keep going and get in better quality, some of the links and one or 2 that we’ve missed out on are poor to say the least

The press are bound to get one or two right mate considering how many we’ve been linked with. Your right about our transfer policy. Does seem a bit of a cluster fcuk!

Comment #58Bit of a worrying article in .com, they don’t post without genuine concern. Does Ashley think he can get another Pardew, is he prepared to gamble our future on that he can.

Comment #59Desperation. No thanks. I’d prefer to give young Armstrong a run out rather than waste money on another Rivierre which this bloke would be
