Rafa Is Unhappy – Sort This Out – Newcastle Must Bring Players In Quickly

Martin Hardy of The Independent reported earlier today that Rafa Benitez’s future is in serious doubt at Newcastle and it could be that Martin has an insight, since he spent a lot of time with Rafa this year writing his book
‘Rafa’s Way’ which is a decent read.

We keep hearing these stories about Rafa being frustrated and while we don’t think Rafa is anywhere close to leaving Newcastle we should be warned nevertheless that the longer we go on without getting some decent players through the door the more Rafa will become frustrated and he has every right to be.

It would be a complete and utter tragedy if Rafa leaves Newcastle after all the tremendous work he done over a very short 17 months.

Mike Ashley, Rafa Benitez and Lee Charnley

We are a little worried that these reports keep surfacing and Martin is not one to sensationalize things, so we should understand Rafa is frustrated at the lack of signings.

We were looking at the 2014 transfer window today and when Emmanuel Riviere came through the door about this time three years ago he was our 5th signing of the summer.

So far we have only one new player – Florian Lejeune – to add to our squad from last season.

After Hardy’s report came out, both Craig Hope of the Mail and Luke Edwards of the Telegraph have tried to reassure fans that Rafa is far from wanting to walk away from Newcastle.

We agree with Luke – there should be a meeting of the principal players involved in the transfers and get the stuff talked through as to why we cannot seem to sign any players this summer and fix it.

It will be the biggest blunder ever if Newcastle screw this up and we lose Rafa Benitez.

It would be unforgivable.

The company that owns Leicester City and funded the club’s rise to become 2016 Premier League champions has been accused of multimillion-pound corruption in the operation of its business in Thailand. ooooooohh

I would rather they bought less good players than cheap mediocre transfers that will probably fail….Riviere for example.

Bit of a worrying article in .com, they don’t post without genuine concern. Does Ashley think he can get another Pardew, is he prepared to gamble our future on that he can.

This story on Rafa doing one is getting rather boring now.
Hopefully this speech at Nine bar by Rafa will put the Natives at ease.
    Unless it’s his Farewell speach

I have been saying for a while that Ashley will look at the 5m rafa is getting as a hindrance to him rather than a positive. He was happy whilst in the championship as he wanted to come back up. I don’t think rafa will walk away just yet but the longer we faf the harder it becomes

It would appear to the outsider and let us be honest whatever we write here as well as what appears in the newspapers is pure conjecture. However just as we cannot influence which players should be bought Ashley and Charnley have got to accept that the market is where it is and they cannot do a thing about it. There idea appears to be if a player on the market for £x then bid half that amount to try and get a bargain. That is no way to do business other clubs appear to be paying the asking price and it is a sellers market so we have to pay the asking price forget about selling on at a profit we are in the Pl and we want to stay in the PL. Too many good players have slipped through the net. Now could it be that Charnley could never be a brexit negotiator he is an accountant so in my experience of dealing with accountants do not expect him to be capable of making a decision. He will have a personality that is frightened by his own shadow. He knows the hand that feeds him and keeps him in his job will say one thing one day and another the next he says what he thinks will sound good to whoever he is talking to and then renege on whatever he said if it suits him. Rafa is possibly just as frustrated as the fans but he wants to be loyal and it is a difficult balancing act. We have witnessed how Ashley behaves with the club for ten years he is not going to suddenly change it is not in his nature. He is the big I am and likes the idea of controlling it does not matter if the clubs value goes down he will make it up elsewhere. It is no good mounting a campaign Ashley out it just makes him dig in his heels. I hope just like every other true supporter that we get some players who want to play for the club and are proud of the shirt they will wear sorry but Ashley does not understand that philosophy. What worries me is some of the players we are supposed to be interested in are being chased by other CHAMPIONSHIP CLUBS not PL: clubs will somebody please tell Charnely we are in the PL I do not think he understands that and have to pay PL prices. Do not expect to go house hunting in Ponteland and pay Wallsend prices. There again Ashley is addicted to gambling what can we do about it we will still sit on those seats every week. Moan yes because over the years we have become professional moaners.

Strange that .Com print that scaremongering article by Martin Hardy then push his book about Rafa at the same time.
Just to pick holes in it
Abrahams was told by Chelsea to join their ex coach Paul Clement (2007/11) at Swansea.
Pepe Reina is still in discussion with Dilaurentiis , Napoli’s owner about his future.
Neither scenario involves any parsimony or backpedalling by tne club or Ashley.

I wonder what is written in contracts if Rafa walks ?

You may not be far off in the mind of Ash, use Rafa to get us promoted then sicken him.

It’s probably the best 5million ash spent getting Rafa to bring us back up.

Then bring in a ‘plodder’ that keeps us 4th from bottom and someone not demanding millions to make us challenge top 6

It’s Ash and anything can happen with him in charge

Huddersfield have bought players that probably wouldn’t have improved our squad but for what they already had they have improved. It’s a bit like us buying Lejeune, he’d be pants for Everton and probably wouldn’t get in ahead of there defenders they currently have.

At least Huddersfield are giving themselves a chance though, spending and improving the squad
