It’s a Sunday so usually we are linked with some top players like Lionel Messi, but we cannot see too many new links in the transfer window for Newcastle.
Currently, fans are waiting for the deal with Jacob Murphy of Norwich to be finalized, as the first team squad will jet off to Dublin for a week’s training camp next in the same location as last summer.
That first half of the game at Tynecastle on Friday night was really good to watch and we looked a fairly good side so very early in the preseason.
A smiling Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez
Here are some of the things Newcastle fans are talking about on Twitter this morning.
I really hope Siem De Jong is given a chance under Rafa this season. Has the talent just been unlucky with injuries #NUFC
— Steven Byrne (@nonsocialsteve) July 16, 2017
Hope we can get this Murphy deal done good player reminds me a bit of deli ali. Look what he has done everyone got to start somewhere #NUFC
— dave armstrong (@1davearmstrong) July 16, 2017
If the Murphy deal (if it happens) is taking this long then dont expect a recognised goalscorer coming in this window. #nufc
— NUFCAnonymous (@NufcAnonymous) July 16, 2017
This might sound absolutely mental but i’m going to call it early, Siem De Jong to be our best player next season #nufc
— John Wainwright (@JohnWainwright4) July 15, 2017
If Siem de Jong can stay fit, he’d be an excellent No. 10 behind Gayle. His pass against Hearts yesterday was sublime. #NUFC
— Adam C. (@adamecurry) July 15, 2017
It’s Sunday so I’m sure there’s another story about Rafa walking. He must get some miles done! #NUFC
— Graeme Bell (@GraemeBell_NUFC) July 16, 2017
Really hope De Jong, Saivet and Aarons prove people wrong this season who wrote them off! #NUFC
— Taz??io (@TAZBI0) July 16, 2017
So desperate for signings we are happy to accept championship standard in Murphy and Rolan. I’d rather wait for decent players thanks #NUFC
— Liam (@liamsurreytoon) July 16, 2017
Sooner #NUFC can finish the deal, the sooner they move on to other targets. Charnley only seems to be doing one deal at a time this summer
— The Perennial Pundit (@PerennialPundit) July 16, 2017
Good night #NUFC! After a long night tonight.. some pints and texts… should see some results tomorrow or Monday. Howay the Lads

Comment #2Tinman – Right, forgot that. But I do think Traore will step up and improve than Jacob though.JM looks physically little on that pic, with slim sign of developing, reminds of Nile Ranger’s physicallity.

Comment #4Rafa wants one of those strikers who plays on the defenders’ shoulders. Who’s shoulders? Hanley could surely carry one. Maybe G2 has a point about these Belgian midget strikers?

Comment #7Jacob must be on his way for his medical?
Cannot believe some are already unhappy with his signing (assuming Penfold has it in the bag )
Scores a few goals, as well as pace and potential.
Him, Ritchie, Gayle and De Jong would be decent.

Both would have made a massive difference to the Squad ,And still left money in the bank for the transfer kitty.

Comment #11I would be happy if I just knew what was going on, but when you read headlines like ‘West Ham offer Randolph to NUFC’ I begin to wonder and in line with that has the ambition gone already or was it even there in the first place as far as NUFC is concerned.
Other teams cast off in no way appeals to me, no one now is going it seems to crawl over hot coals to join Rafa at NUFC,has he lost his touch as well? or and I hope this is not the case has he thought about jumping ship.
Not a marque signing in side, we really have fallen down the pecking order. would we worry – maybe just a little bit.

Comment #18We’ve seen this before with De Jong. Have a blinder pre-season only to pick up an injury before a ball is kicked in anger.
Hope – that’s all we have for him really – that he can stay fit. As I said a few months back when there was talk of Sigurdsson before the market inflated beyond ludicrousness, there’s no way we’d have forked out for him anyway when SDJ was rated higher when we signed him and he’s already here.
At least he’s under the watchful eye of a thorough manager and his modern team of medical staff now.
Sink or swim Siem!

Comment #20Ash, seriously mate, why do you believe these headlines in the first place? Just because Randolph MIGHT become available – which depends on the notion that West Ham MIGHT sign Hart – some journo puts two and two together and claims that West Ham MIGHT offer him to us and we in turn MIGHT accept the offer. Randolph was not on Rafa’s list because he was their player and he’s no better than what we’ve got already. He becomes available and bingo! – he becomes player No 230 linked with us. We’re NOT linked with all these players mate. Only by the press who know nothing about who Rafa does or doesn’t fancy.
Ignore the press and wait until the club express an interest and you won’t get wound up by it all.

Comment #25So bored of this transfer window. Everything is done at a snails pace from us and since it opened I have been logging on to see if a new signing is imminent only to be left waiting and seeing targets sign for other clubs. When in the hell are we gonna sign this Murphy lad as this one too is dragging on now. We really need to get our fibger our. After all the hype and positivity when we clinched the Championship title it has all faded out so quick and now we’re left with the same old Newcastle with lots of talk and no action. We only have a month left now and Rafa must be fuming like the rest of us.
Sorry for all the doom and gloom this morning but if Murphy doesn’t sign tomorrow for us I will pull my hair out!

Comment #28Toontaff, there were enough meltdowns last season and we won the league ffs! I did point out last season that if they were going to cry about things whilst we’re top, then God help us this season, when we’ll win nowhere near as many games.
Without the PL money, this season will be all about staying up, which I think we’ll do comfortably. People saying Rafa won’t accept that and will want a top six place are delusional. Rafa’s a realist. He’s building for the future and this season won’t see the building anywhere near complete.
The closest a promoted side has come to challenging was us, but that was over twenty years ago when it was possible for a team like Blackburn to buy the league. Those days are long gone. For most clubs coming up the best they can hope for is to avoid relegation. We’ll manage that imo, and that will be a good season. It’s the following one that will be interesting, when he buys again and pushes on.

I believe I heard 7m banded about before we got relegated, with Hull down I would say 7-10m would bag him… May have signed a new contract last year I think but not really that sure, I like him as a squad filler who can do the job, he was so highly thought off when he broke through
